With the premiere having aired, MTV now has given us a sneak peek at some of what we’ll see on this season of the Shannara Chronicles. No lack of action and suspense here, our heroes are in for a very interesting ride this season.
Eretria and her Rover clan are going after Wil. What exactly Cephalo’s plans are once he has the half-elf in his grasp is still yet to be known. Though given his treatment of Eretria in the premiere, I can’t help but think that it’s not going to be pleasant, whatever it is. The Rover leader definitely believes that magic is still around and he seems the type to capitalize on whatever advantage he can seize. A slave that does magic could do a lot for a man like Cephalo. There’s no indication that he’ll honor the deal he made with Eretria for her freedom, either.
Another new character is introduced, a seer, which is as Allanon states, “It’s a powerful and dangerous gift.” From the video it looks like he’s the one responsible for Eretria’s joining Wil and Amberle on their quest to find Safehold and the Bloodfire. The Changeling is still prowling around Arborlon causing all kinds of trouble, and the tension between the two royal brothers only amps up more as Ander and his old flame, Commander Tilton move to make an alliance with the Gnomes against the Dagda Mor’s demon armies. Arion is strongly against this idea, still holding a grudge because the Gnomes were responsible for the death of their brother, Aine, who was Amberle’s father.
As Allanon reminds Wil over and over, “Magic comes with a price.” It’s up to Wil to decide whether or not it’s worth the risk to use the Elfstones and the magic within him. If he’s willing to pay the price for it and wind up like his father or worse. “You or Shannara,” Allanon says ominously in one clip. All in all, it looks like we’ve got a wild ride ahead of us. Will they succeed in their quest? Who’ll be left standing if it comes to a fight between Allanon and the Dagda Mor? What’ll happen to Wil if he uses the Elfstones? Amberle? Eretria?
Next Tuesday can’t come fast enough for me. What about you?
