Well, if you are anything like the millions of viewers on Super Bowl night, you watch and anticipate the commercials breaks. The truth is, that is the main reason I watch. I am not into football, except for this championship game. The draw of the commercial and ad spots are what pulls me in. Lately though, I have noticed a severe lack of good ads. Maybe the millions of dollars that are charged for the puny 30 second spots, is the cause. More and more, you see ads for things you have never heard of, or very lackluster, almost pointless ads. I wonder sometimes, if the agencies responsible for some of these items or services, are even thinking when they go to screen with them! This is my list of the good ones. Keep in my mind, this is my opinion.
A few of the spots last night, were just outwardly stupid, especially the ones the NFL did in regards to “Super Bowl Babies”! I watched, but thought, “what the hell is this about?” Here is one of them.
Ok, it is cute, with the kids singing a great song by Seal, but really? What is the point of the spot? Is it the NFL’s intention to show that instead of watching the big game, the parents are busy in the bedroom on game day? If you have any reasoning behind this, let me know please.
On to a few of the good one’s that were shown. Honda had a great one. I don’t drive a Honda Ridgeline, I can’t afford one, but the mix of sheep singing a Queen song was quite adorable.
In another, Avocados From Mexico, we see humans from a different perspective, as aliens take a tour of artifacts from Earth including the simple Rubik’s Cube, a primitive emoji alphabet and Scott Baio.
Doritos had three fairly good ads. This one, that features a woman in labor, whose hubby is munching away on a bag, is semi cute. The baby wanted Doritos!
Another Doritos ad, featuring our furry friends, the dogs.
And yet another was the Swipe. #SwipeForDoritos Dating these days is quite the challenge! You never know what you’re going to get when you “swipe”… so go ahead, swipe away!
With aggressive exterior styling, genuine Nappa leather seats, and a 2.0L GDI turbo engine, the next generation Kia Optima is a midsize sedan that makes a statement. It stands alone in a category that’s as bored and uninspired as beige socks. This was a winner in my book, as I adore Christopher Walken!
Coca-Cola Super Bowl 2016 Commercial, Hulk vs Ant Man. This was pretty darn cool! I loved this one!
Snickers had a great one featuring Willam Defoe as Marylin Monroe. America’s original sweetheart isn’t so sweet when she’s hungry.
Check out how Steven Tyler keeps the dream alive in this Skittles Super Bowl 50 commercial with special guest, Steven Tyler! Rock the Rainbow. Taste the Rainbow. #SkittlesArt
The most anticipated ads were for Budweiser. I was sorely disappointed. No puppies and no heartwarming Clydesdales ads. There were Clydesdales. but they just didn’t hit the mark. Here are their spots.
The best one was with Actress Helen Mirren. A good commercial, with a good PSA.
These were the best commercials in my opinion. I hoped you liked them. Until next year kiddies!
P.S. Don’t Drink and Drive!
