That’s right, after all this time, “A Credible Threat” brought the pack to a charity lacrosse game and the coach back onto the field. While it’s always fun to see the coach and watch these guys play, it wasn’t all fun and games since the live news broadcast was enough to draw in the foe nobody wants to see around that many living humans. As the pack couldn’t cancel the game, they decided to do their best to stop the Beast from coming, but ultimately failed due to a calamity of events including a certain female lacrosse player going haywire and a Desert Wolf getting in the way. Meanwhile, the Argents and Lydia were busy working with Parrish to bring his memories back so he would know what to do to fight the Beast when the time came. And for once, Theo wasn’t hanging around making trouble with his pack!
The Charity Game Goes Awry
Unfortunately, when they couldn’t find a way to cancel the game, they went to plan B which was finding a coach who would forfeit the game. Who else could they rely on for that, but Coach himself? It was amusing seeing the coach’s “unhinged” condition, but when it came down to it, they really should’ve expected that the coach would NEVER forfeit a game…even if it meant death to everyone. He’s not exactly the smartest guy sometimes, but still great to see back on screen. With the game in full swing, the guys are left to keep it going while they try to find the teen with the bloody footprint and take advantage of the opportunity they have here to find the kid behind the beast. With some recruits from the competing lacrosse team, they search the crowd while Malia cuts the news broadcasts. This is about when things go a bit crazy. Kira loses control on (and off) the field, the Desert Wolf shows up, Stiles bumps his head, and the Beast arrives.
The Kitsune Wants Out and The Desert Wolf Wants In
Obviously, Kira’s been struggling with this one for a while and it’s only a matter of time before she loses it completely. Well, she basically did lose it at the game. Scott was the only one who could bring her back to herself, but until he showed up, she was pretty out of it. If it weren’t for the sister of the lacrosse player having some pretty awesome skills herself, she probably wouldn’t have lasted long. Would Kira have killed her? Nobody wants to see Kira as a skin walker, but she definitely needs to find a way to gain control of the fox spirit before she loses herself completely. How does she plan on fighting the Beast if, at any moment, she could lose control and the pack ends up having to fight her, too?
If Kira’s loss of control weren’t enough, the Desert Wolf chose the absolute worst time to pop in for a reunion. This time she gained some intel that may not bode so well for Stiles in the future. With the Desert Wolf bent on taking Malia’s powers, I can imagine her using any leverage she can to do so, and in “A Credible Threat” she learned that the reason Malia is sticking around and so determined to help everyone had less to do with her strong moral sense and everything to do with the one and only Stiles. I’m sure many a Stalia fan squeed at that. Malia still has feelings for Stiles, but does he still have feelings for her? Will the Desert Wolf use this knowledge against her? Most likely, yes…and that can’t be good for Stiles.
While they may not have discovered who the Beast was, they did learn that the Dread Doctors are using the Beast’s transformations to make him remember his former self. What does that mean? That means the Beast is evolving and given enough transformations when the Beast finally remembers, the teen currently taking on a Beastly form will be transformed into the man the Beast once was. They also learned that the Dread Doctors are using frequencies to trigger the transformation no matter the current phase of the moon. This expedites the evolution process to bring the Beast’s memories back faster. This advantage, however, is short-lived as they realize it’ll be a bloodfest when the transformation is triggered at the lacrosse game. When it is eventually triggered, Liam is the first to face it, heading straight for the Beast as it arrives, but his fate is left unknown as that’s the last we see of Liam and the next we see of the Beast is in the school chasing after the living humans. Did Liam survive his face-off with the Beast? Who is the Beast anyway? I have a couple of theories on this one. A friend recently suggested Mason and so far, my only other thought was Donavan. If that were the case, however, Donavan would’ve been seen alive by this point, right? I still have my doubts on Mason being the Beast, though. Who do you think it could be?
While everyone else was at the game, Lydia and the Argents were busy trying to help Parrish who showed up in the library clawed to bits and healing slowly after his confrontation with the Beast in the beginning of “A Credible Threat.” This confrontation left him weak and injured and losing hope that he could fight the Beast and win. Lydia takes him to the Argents who use a fancy machine to trigger the Hellhound’s instinct to take over Parrish’s body. When the Hellhound is conscious, the Argents take the opportunity to have Lydia question him. The Hellhound claims Parrish died well before arriving in Beacon Hills, but as it is forced to remember Parrish, the situation turns. Parrish emerges and knows what he has to do to fight the Beast. What will his plan be to stop the Beast? Will he sacrifice himself in the fight?
While a lot happened and some questions were answered, a few too many are still left up in the air. Parrish’s plans, the Beast’s identity, and most importantly, Liam’s fate have all been left hanging by the end of this episode. Stalia has been brought back to the forefront while Marrish is being teased again and Stydia seems to be on the back burner again. On the plus side, Hayden has finally come around to Scott’s and Liam’s side, but will it be too late for Liam? Tune in tomorrow at 9/8c to MTV for an all-new Teen Wolf and find out the answers to these questions and more!
