Yeah, that’s right. I’m going there. If you’ve read any of my reviews in the past, then you know I’m a firm Stydia shipper, but I’ve also enjoyed Stalia as well as a few of the other couples on the show. I know a lot of Teen Wolf fans have their own favorites, so I thought it’d be fun to have a little Valentine’s Day post of a few of those. For the sake of this post, I’ve split the categories into established couples and relationships we wish would happen, but have yet to actually exist. NOTE: If you aren’t completely caught up on Season 5 at this point, stop reading this now. SPOILERS BELOW.
Couples: Current and Former
Scira: Scott and Kira (Current)
Leading the way in the couple world this season has been Scott and Kira. They have been together for a while and despite numerous struggles throughout season five, they remain strong. While Scott was great with Allison and I will perhaps always favor those two despite seeing their relationship end and Allison’s departure from this world, Scira is pretty great and absolutely adorable together. There is also no question on either side about their interests. They like each other. They’re cute together. They work. What more do I need to say?
Stalia: Stiles and Malia (Former?)
Stalia, of course, is one of two couples that gets a lot of fan attention. Mostly because of the Stydia ship angle that is constantly at odds with Stalia. As long as Stiles is in a relationship with another girl, one whom just so happens to kick ass, it makes it rather difficult for him to be with Lydia. That being said, you have to admit, even as a Stydia shipper, Stalia is pretty fun. Stiles came into Malia’s life when she needed someone most and the two have grown together throughout that time. There is an obvious respect between them, which allows them to lean on, understand, and gain strength from each other. While this season seems to have brought an end to their relationship, it’s always possible that they’ll get back together and it really wouldn’t be such a bad thing if they did.
Layden: Liam and Hayden (Current)
I adore Liam. He’s worked so hard on his anger issues and regaining Scott’s trust, plus he’s a sweet kid, kind, and good despite his struggles. He’s like Scott’s mini me and I love that. Hayden, however, has been at odds with him from her introduction. Holding a grudge against him for some past event, then being a bitch, for the most part, toward him, and now favoring the ultimate asshat, Theo, over Scott solely because Theo saved her life. While Theo may have brought her back from the dead, he was an instrument in endangering her life in the first place (if you ask me). While she has come around to assist Liam and form a relationship with him despite Theo’s probable objections, she has yet to show any endearing qualities that could possibly make me change my mind on this one. While they may be a couple and featured enough to be worth a mention, and even sort of cute together, it will probably be a long time before I can ever admit that I like them.
Sciles: Scott and Stiles (Current)
Okay, so these guys aren’t a couple in the Valentine’s Day sense of the term. They are platonic friends and practically brothers, but their relationship is definitely worthy of a mention. This relationship has really built the show. Their support and trust in each other as well as the strength they bring to each other is one of the best parts of Teen Wolf. These two make the show what it is and without one or the other, it could never be the same. The short stint where they were at odds was absolutely terrible and heart wrenching at times. These two are amazing friends and present the kind of friendship most people wish they could have, but rarely find. Plus, they’re adorable together!
Stydia: Stiles and Lydia
No post that mentions Teen Wolf ships can go without mentioning Stydia. Stiles has had a crush on Lydia since the first season and while she didn’t know who he was back then, their relationship has grown tremendously since the first mention of Stiles’ crush. They’ve grown up together, have gone through a lot of hell and loss together, and have become amazing friends. While many may find an objection to their relationship because of this, it is also a pretty good reason why they’d work. Their friendship bonds them and they clearly care about each other. Even when dating Malia, Stiles has never stopped showing how much he cares about Lydia, whether that’s because of their friendship or feelings that go beyond that, their relationship has grown stronger as they’ve become closer, and that makes for a great relationship…even if it does mean Stalia won’t happen again and Marrish is off the table.
Marrish: Lydia and Parrish
Many may argue that Stiles is too immature for Lydia. She needs someone stronger and more capable of caring for her than Stiles could. Though you could hardly blame Stiles for his human status, Deputy Parrish does fit the bill rather nicely. I’ll admit, I’ve found the majority of Lydia’s and Parrish’s relationship to be awkward and almost painful to watch. Until recently, I didn’t think they really went together, but with recent developments and his Hellhound nature, it would seem that Lydia and Parrish are quite good for each other as well. Though Stiles was given the credit for saving Lydia, this would not have been the case if Parrish hadn’t been there. Parrish broke in and stopped Theo from his plans. Parrish shielded her scream from everyone and was able to survive, and get her to safety with the pack. More importantly Parrish is the only one who could have done that. As a Hellhound, he is a harbinger of death like the Banshee, they do seem quite made for each other, don’t they? I may be able to come around to this one eventually, but for now, I’m still not sure about these two. Though that may be because, as mentioned, I’m a Stydia shipper.
Thalia: Theo and Malia
Okay, so some of you may wonder about this one. I know I do myself. In the beginning of the season, when Theo’s intentions weren’t absolutely clear, it was even easy to see these two together. In fact, I may have even suggested that this could happen. Now, however, I think this is just a terrible idea and hope to hell that this is a passing ship that never comes to fruition. Theo may be attractive and they have played well off of each other in the past, but Theo is an asshat. When he “helped” her find the Desert Wolf, he even turned on her and shot her. His sole concern in life is for himself. While this may have initially been an acceptable ship, it’s not anymore. Theo has passed the point of any redemption, so I apologize if I’ve said anything to offend your favorite, but this one has to go….along with Theo.
Obviously there are many more couples and ships that have been introduced and mentioned throughout Teen Wolf. While some have been more prominent, others have only just begun and have yet to develop into a full couple or ship (yes, I’m talking about Mason and Corey, don’t worry I didn’t forget them). Still others seem fanciful to such a degree that they aren’t even really in the realm of possibility. If I wrote that list, I’d spend the next week trying to cover them all and I’d still probably miss a few. I may have just focused on some of the most popular couples and ships this time around, but they are all fun to contemplate and watch on screen.
