Another week, another volley of fun updates from Joseph Mallozzi’s weblog. This week, we found out there’s a lineup of really great directors coming in for season 2. We also got to vote on another episode title, saw a ton of cool set images, and lots of graphic designs. But the most exciting piece of news came in the middle of the week, when UK fans discovered a contest to win a trip to the set and possibly much, much more! Read on to find out what went down this week.

Sunday’s entry was a tease about what’s to come during the week, which included a who’s who line-up of directors. Jason Priestley, Bruce McDonald, Ron Murphy, and Andy Mikita are all working on their respective episodes. This list of directors alone is plenty enough to get me even more anxious for the season 2 launch. There’s also another cool in-show graphic – this one is a video of a starfield graphics display that you just have to see.

When Monday rolled around, Joe helped ease the pain by giving us another chance to vote on an episode title. This time, it was the title for episode 205. If you missed it, you need to keep checking in because we’re getting the chance to vote on ALL 13 episode titles. Don’t miss out on this opportunity! If you visited on Monday, you also got a chance to comment on several different interstellar battleship designs. Dark Matter has quickly become a truly interactive show, thanks to Joseph Mallozzi’s generosity and love for fans.

Once the polls closed and Tuesday arrived, we learned which of the 3 episode 205 titles was the winner. As always, you’ll have to click on the link to find out for yourself. Once there, you’ll also discover several very nice shots of set pieces that will only serve to hasten your descent into full-on Dark Matter withdrawals. There’s even a literal picture of a dog’s breakfast. Well two dogs’ breakfasts – and they look better than most breakfasts I make for myself.

Wednesday proved to be a great day for Dark Matter fans in the UK. You lucky nerds “across the pond” can enter to win a chance to visit the set and possibly be an extra on the show! You need to click the link right now and enter, otherwise I’m moving over there and doing it myself. Don’t come crying to me if you miss out. As with most posts, there are a number of BTS pictures you don’t want to miss, including that great cross-stitch tribute above to our seven favorite space rats. There’s a much higher resolution view if you click the link.

Thursday morning began with episode 206 director Jason Priestley continuing his upbeat work on episode 206 while David Hewlett showed off Tabor Calchek’s lack of style. The day’s post was rounded out with several comic book recommendations and a wireframe CGI by Victor Mare.  It’s some kind of mystery device that reminds this Whovian of a sonic screwdriver.

Everyone’s favorite weekday, Friday, was all about space station Balda-9 and the beautiful artwork from 1st Assistant Art Director Roxanne Borris. The gorgeous graphic above is only 1 of 7 featured on Joe’s blog, so click over to see them all. You won’t be disappointed.

It looks like Saturday very nearly went up in smoke when the Art Department once again tried to sneak some space bongs into a shot. A hint of things to come was presented in the form of the imperial crest of the House of Ishida. There must be some formal event planned because Bubba and Lulu were all dolled up and ready to hobnob with Ishida royalty.

And so ends another exciting week in the Dark Matter universe.  It’s really starting to feel like season 2 is becoming a living, breathing creature and each week’s posts by Joe help fill in the pieces and tide us over until the premiere sometime this summer on Syfy and Space.
