Another week of “making the donuts” gave us more chances to see cool videos and behind-the-scenes images from Dark Matter‘s season 2 production. A good percentage of shooting is done, but there’s still a lot to do before the new episodes air. Keep on reading to see TWO’s new look, Peter DeLuise in action, lots of cool VFX videos, and a good bit more right here in Dark Matter Digest, Mar 27: Revenge of the Space Bongs.
Sunday brought a deserved and needed break from the long hours of Dark Matter production. Today, we got a few more of what Joe calls “Akemi-isms”. They’re her adorable versions of some common English phrases, words, and expressions. My favorite is “grandma eyes” which is what she says to mean poor eyesight. Check out the link for all of them. It’s worth a look!
We received another progress update on Monday. Two thirds of shooting for season 2 of Dark Matter has been completed. Before you get all excited that it’s nearly done, there’s still editing, mixing, and VFX to be done, the latter of which is only at a bit under 15% right now. So there’s still puh-lenty of work to be done before it’s ready for our faces to absorb. Head on over to the full post where you’ll also see a cool treat pack a fan sent in, get the latest update on the “Reddit Shadowban” issue, and be treated to pictures of actors who may or may not be appearing in Dark Matter. There’s one final treat – another of those cool VFX videos – and this one includes an explosion!
Tuesday was a quick bevy of set images and yet another of those VFX videos I love so much. One of the pictures was of a sketch from the costume department that screams Mad Scientist In SPAAAAACE! Feel free to click the link and feast on that little slice of nightmare fuel. You might as well look and prepare yourself for the inevitable appearance of this costume/character on an episode of Dark Matter.
This is turning out to be a great week because for the third day in a row we’re treated to a VFX video. Wednesday delivered to us an on-screen logo for the Galactic Authority and it looks very official and a little … sinister. We got a really good look at Two’s new look, a small picture of which I’ve shared here. Click on the link for a really high resolution look at her new duds and to see the GA logo in action.
Today was Take-Out Thursday, which apparently means ordering from restaurateurs who love puns. First choice was Fists of Curry, but they were closed, so the back-up restaurant was called into action – House of Frying Daggers. There’s also a ton of pictures at the link, including the reappearance of those pesky space bongs, a few choice cat shirts, and lots more!
Friday had some long-awaited news that seemed to quietly sneak onto the internet. Joe informed us that Dark Matter will FINALLY be released on DVD/Blu-ray for the US and Canada on June 14. The news came via TV Shows on DVD.com. Click on the picture above or HERE to pre-order your copy from Amazon right now! When I find any more details I’ll be sure to share them here at TIBS. And you should check out the link for some beautiful space station designs and a celebratory picture of Joe with Peter DeLuise who received a Daytime Emmy Nomination for “Outstanding Directing Special Class” for the work he did on Monsterville.
Who among you loves anime? Well, you’re in for a treat! Saturday‘s entry was all about the Raza crew and their anime counterparts. Head on over to the link to see Joe’s selections and see if you agree. Let us know what you think in the comments!
Well, I’d love to offer even more information, but I’m not a time traveler (yet). If you come back next week I’ll have another week’s worth of pre-digested information for you! Sounds yummy, no?
