Season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil hits cyberspace this Friday, March 18, but there’s still time for one final trailer. Unlike the previous ones which spent a lot of time on the new players, this one gets more into the story we’ll see this year. And it’s no surprise that there’s a lot of fighting in the footage. One of the show’s signature elements are those wonderfully choreographed fight scenes, sometimes seeming to go on forever, but in a good way.
There are a couple of tantalizing images that have me wondering if my belief that we haven’t seen the last of Nobu might be correct. There’s what looks like a coffin while a voice-over says, “The rising is coming.” Later, we see a faceless figure holding one of those “hook knives” on a chain – something I believe Nobu was fond of. That’s assuming Nobu had the ability to be fond of anything.
Frank Castle is only seen briefly, covered in blood, but Elektra gets a larger role in this clip. She and Murdock team up. Or, more accurately, hook up. Still, from what Elektra is heard saying, it’s a love-hate relationship. Are there any other kind?
Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios.
Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.
