Have you been missing the action on ‘Supergirl?’ I hear you! As much as I love the interpersonal story lines, I like explosions and fierce battles too. After a few episodes break, Supergirl will finally exercise her abilities in ‘Worlds Finest’ . . . and she won’t be alone.
Lost and confused, The Flash (played by Grant Gustin in his own network show on the CW) shows up in National City asking for help to get home. Home, by the way, is Central City, which I think is kind of a cute parallel. Since I haven’t been watching this season I figured we could all use a little background info on this new superhero. Apparently, Barry Allen, aka The Flash, was orphaned at the age of 11. His mother was killed in a freak accident and his father was (falsely) imprisoned for the deed. I’m thinking Barry and Winn might need a man-date together to work on their daddy issues. But Barry was thankfully taken in and raised by Detective Joe West, the father of Barry’s best friend Iris. Now he works as a pseudo-CSI while he tries to uncover the truth about his mother’s death.
How did he get his super fast abilities? A lightening strike occurred one night while Barry was standing too close to a particle accelerator in a lab. An explosion occured, followed by nine months in a coma. When he awoke, Barry discovered that his near death experience gave him super speed and that he’s not the only ‘meta-human’ with this gift. The Flash, in addition to his detective duties, spends a lot of time battling other speedy people who use their power for evil. He, Detective West and Iris, who works as an investigative journalist in Central City, help keep the peace and take down the ominous meta humans who threaten their way of life.
Okay. Now you’re all caught up . . . except for who The Flash and Supergirl are going to battle! It seems that Livewire has decided to return and she and Siobhan, who has fully transformed into Silver Banshee, are out for vengeance. Thankfully Supergirl won’t be alone battling these two, especially with Hank and Alex on the run. Lucy Lane will be giving orders at the DEO now, and Cat Grant gets kidnapped?! Oh yes, it seems that life is about to get more exciting on ‘Supergirl’ this Monday night.
