This show is progressing nicely. In episode 202, ‘We All Fall Down’, we saw more character development and as the story moves on, we see the fear! Think about it for a moment. What would you do in their place? They have seen unimaginable things, and have had to flee their home. They have had to leave everything behind, including friends and other family. They are getting no explanation as to what the hell is going on, and there is no one around to answer their questions. This season of Fear The Walking Dead, will hopefully clue us in to what has happened and why. Maybe we will even get to find out, what has caused this massive, world shattering chaos!
When the episode started with two little children playing on the beach, I though, ‘oh no, here we go’! I wasn’t far off the mark when it came to be that there were infected walking towards them! Thank the Lord for the fence!
We see Maddie yelling at Nick for doing something as stupid as going into the wrecked hull of that boat, But he did get the log book, that as they read it, told them that places along the coast were already gone. Shoot! Now what? Strand speculates about that other boat, the one that is following them. They all decide it could be military, or it could be Radio Jack.
Deciding to hide in a cove off of a small island, Maddie sees a light go off and on, in a house onshore. They dock and go to explore, calling out to those in the house. A little boy named Henry comes running out, followed by a man, his father George. When they get inside and meet the family, there is an odd feeling of something not quite right. The mother, Melissa, asks, or quizzes Maddi, about all sorts of things. What is she getting at? We meet the older son Seth and younger girl Willa. Seth seems very unsure of our group and is carrying a rifle. George explains what he knows to Travis. The military has been bombing all over the western United States, with napalm. San Diego is gone, so are Colorado and Utah. This guy is a park ranger with a plan it seems.
Ofelia and Daniel have stayed behind to watch Strand. Strand knows it too. Ofelia wants to stay on the island, but Daniel tells her that they would have to be invited. She knows and seems to understand her father now, in this world. What she has seen and been through, helps her understand who he is.
Alicia, Chris, and Nick are hanging out. Nick is hanging out with Henry, who shows all his action figures to him. They all have names of family and friends and have red dots on their foreheads. Henry says that this is what happens when people get sick. Nick is digesting this. That was hella creepy!
Daniel has the sinking feeling that the boat doesn’t belong to Strand. Strand tries to act cool, in the face of Daniel’s questions. Back on shore,George tells Travis that this is the way it is supposed to end. It is Nature’s natural selection. Travis is getting that odd feeling about this family. George and his family will stay. Seth is busy doing chores. Chores that consist of killing the infected that are lined up at the fence, trying to get thru. He explains to Chris that it has to be done in order for them not to overrun the fence. His family is self reliant. He encourages Chris to help. he must learn. Chris takes the pick axe and starts swinging. This is very reminiscent of The Walking Dead. An ‘easter egg‘, so to speak. This episode has moved along quite well, and I really don’t see what the ‘haters’ are seeing when they complain!
Maddie is sure there is something not right about the family. She tell Travis that she’s sure the mother wants to get off the island. Nick is scrounging around for drugs. He knows there have to be somewhere. He finds pills. Are these the power pills that Henry told him about. He is caught by Willa, and puts them back.
Strand and Daniel find out that the boat that was following is gone. They decide not to stick around and head out to sea. Daniel snoops around while Strand is out. From the maps and the gun he found, he knows that Strand is up to something. Strand is talking on the phone to someone. He tells them he will be there. Who is it? Maddie and Melissa talk. She confesses that she hoped someone would come. She wants the group to take Henry and Willa with them. She knows there will be hope for the little kids with Maddie. They plan it out.
Nick lets Maddie and Travis know that he believes that George is going to kill his family when the time comes. It’s urgent they get the kids out! When they are getting ready to leave, George stops them. he isn’t liking the idea. As Henry comes down the steps, he frantic that something is wrong with Willa.
When they go upstairs, they find Willa lying on the floor. Willa has gotten into the ‘power pills’ and has overdosed. Maddie can see that she is dead. She tells Melissa to stay away, but UH OH, too late. Little Willa has turned infected and rips her mother’s throat out! George tells them to take Harry and leave.
When they get to the boat, Strand puts his foot down. They are NOT taking anyone else. Maddie’s fur is ruffled and she argues. Just then, Seth shows up with the rifle to take his brother back home. He threatens to shoot anyone who tries to stop it. Down the pier, infected Melissa is coming! Strand takes off and they all watch and wave to Henry, as Seth turns to shoot his mother.
Who says this isn’t a great episode? Frankly, I am tired of people complaining that it isn’t The Walking Dead! But I guess we all have our own opinions. This story needs time to roll out. Give it time and I promise you, it gets better as it ages! I see a great series! We still have 13 more episodes to go folks, so chill and enjoy! As an added bonus, we have the reveal to the Flight 462 webisodes coming! I know you all want to know who survives it! Maybe next week’s episode will show us!
