I feel it. Do you feel it? This is Outlander’s year at the Emmys. With a full season under its belt, Outlander started strong this year, and the buzz generated in the past year has been tremendous. Starz’ publicity team has kicked it into high gear, and the fans have pushed the noise along.
So here are the categories we’ll be pushing for nominations in:
Drama Actor – Sam Heughan
Drama Actress – Caitriona Balfe
Drama Supporting Actor – Andrew Gower, Duncan Lacroix, Tobias Menzies, Stanley Weber
Drama Supporting Actress – Rosie Day
Drama Guest Actor – Simon Callow, Gary Lewis, Graham McTavish, Grant O’Rourke, Dominique Pinon, Stephen Walters
Drama Guest Actress – Frances De La Tour
This doesn’t include any technical Emmys, such as a well-deserved nod to Terry Dresbach’s costume team. And last year, both Tobias and Caitriona actually scored nominations at the Golden Globes, but Outlander was shut out for the Emmys (neither won the award in their categories). Note that Graham McTavish and Gary Lewis are considered “guest actors” this season, while Andrew Gower (Prince Charles) and Stanley Weber (Comte St. Germain) have been moved into the “supporting” category. This also doesn’t include writing or directing categories, which will be nominated as individual episode selections.
During Tartan Week, Starz put on a panel for Emmy voters that included Ron Moore, Terry Dresbach, Sam, Caitriona, and Jon Gary Steele. That panel, which you can see below, really put out the case for the show to be nominated in several categories!
Emmy voters will now have several weeks to review material suggested by the networks, and vote for their nomination choices. The actual nominations will be announced on July 14, and the awards ceremony will be held on September 18, on ABC.
If you know any Emmy voters, make sure you provide them with this list – and with your praise for the series! Sure, it’s an honor just to be nominated – but it’s only right that we win!
