Finally catching up on my Week of Very Much Outlander! What a week it was – I met some old friends there, made some new ones, and put faces to some of the wonderful names that I’ve come across in the last couple of years. I also had some fantastic opportunities that I want to share with you! One of my favorite events was the Saks Fifth Avenue costume unveiling – I had the great fortune to have a couple of minutes with Ron, Terry, Saks exec Mark Briggs, Caitriona and Sam!
Hundreds of fans lined 5th Avenue, hoping for a glimpse and maybe an autograph. It rained – not heavily, but enough that we were all a little wet – until right before the event started, and then the sun came out just as our heroes did! Of course, the costumes, and the settings they were in, were stunning. The Red Dress, the Brown Flowered Dress, the men’s costumes, and more – including an adorable reticule (a type of purse) with an image that sure looked like Ron and Terry’s beautiful little doggy (seen in last Saturday’s episode) were all completely stunning. All of the celebs were very gracious with the fans, and signed as many anything as they could, shook hands, took selfies, and commiserated with the damp groupies.
Here are some photos and my interviews with the four Outlander biggies, plus Saks Fifth Avenue exec Mark Briggs. What would Sam wear on a date? Is anything about the Outlander costumes on trend for fashion? Watch and see! (a note: it’s really hard to talk to someone and hold a camera to video them when you’re 6 inches apart because you can’t hear one another…. I apologize for the wonky framing of some of my subjects. What? You don’t want to see just Sam’s chin? Sorry.)
Click here for a link to some additional info about Terry’s “find” of the beautiful embroidered fabric from my favorite costume, the brown flowered dress.
A note on photos: Photos for this article came from several sources. I took pictures watermarked Erin Conrad. Cindy Grantham took any pictures watermarked OM/TIBS (Outmanders/Threeifbyspace); and Saks Fifth Avenue provided others that, in the video, are not identified.
