Outlander: New Licensee Announced – Outlander Inspired Fabric

This season of Outlander is definitely costume-centered, which has required all kinds of beautiful fabrics. So it’s only fitting that the newest Outlander licensed products are quilting and home fabrics!
Andover Fabrics was announced today as the newest Outlander licensee. Andover also produces licensed fabrics for Downton Abbey, my new Broadway obsession American in Paris, and many other beautiful collections. You can check them out here at Andover’s website. Here are some examples of Andover’s Downton Abbey fabrics:
Adam Weinstein, the company’s marketing manager, told me today, “Our family business started in the 1920s in New York City’s Flatiron building. Since then, we have been making fabric that tells the story of the American maker. We have been a part of it all, from the wrap skirts of the 1970s to the uniforms of Major League Baseball. More recently, we’ve become the go-to, high-quality fabric maker for established properties like Downton Abbey, Little House on The Prairie, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar

We’re huge Outlander fans here and we especially love the fact that we’re getting to make a fabric line for a series that features as strong of a female lead as Claire. There aren’t enough stories out there today where we get the female perspective first and foremost, and we’re glad that we’re getting to play a part in telling this one.

We’ve worked really hard to make sure that we’re faithfully representing the Outlander look and feel, while also engineering the fabric to be ideal for sewing. We’re so excited to unveil the collection this May.”
Andover’s Outlander collection will debut at the Spring Quilt Market next month, and will be available in quilting stores in October. Andover does not sell directly to the public. There is a list of stores where you can find their products on their website. One note: because these, like the collections mentioned above, are licensed products, they can not be used to make products for resale, only for personal use. They also offer hundreds of free quilt patterns, which you can find here.
