I really did not know how I would feel about this episode of Once Upon A Time entitled Sisters, because we have been getting a few “filler” type episodes as of late. Now, just because they are “filler” episodes, it does not always mean that they are bad episodes, its just extra material used to pass the time. Well, passing the time until we get back to the good stuff at least!
I honestly gave up any hope that Zelena could be redeemed, because I really did not think it was something she wanted to do. Every single time I thought she was going to change, and let go of her bitter hatred and jealousy, she would revert back to wicked ways. I found it a little hard to believe that Zelena and Regina had met before, with Zelena saving her younger sisters life. It was retconning at its finest, but I suppose they needed to do something to make us believe that they were once close. I think I would have been more of a believer if we had received some kind of hint of this scene before. I will take it though, because it led to some beautiful mother/daughter(s) moments.
Cora has done so many bad things over the years though, so I was surprised that she ended up going to a better place. I am not so sure I could have easily forgiven a mother who gave me away so that she could ensure she had a better life, seemed to favor another daughter, and let her first born live with an abusive man. I thought taking their memories away was a pretty crappy thing to do, but it fit her selfish ways. We have only seen Regina’s dad, the pirates, Hercules and the young girl, and Liam and the pirates move on to a better place, everyone else was lost to the River of Lost Souls. I bet that will soon come into play with that mental hospital storyline we heard about.
I really don’t know what to think of Hades at all, because I just can’t quite figure out what his motives are. I know what he told Zelena about what his brother did to his heart, but can it really be true? Hades is definitely trying to sweep her off her feet, but I still can’t wrap my brain around the fact that they fell in love so quickly. I know, I know, it does happen, but in 20 seconds? I just hope that Zelena does not get her hopes up too much about changing a man, because it hardly every works out that way. Look at Rumple, he loves Belle so much, but he does not want to let go of all that power.

Zelena and Regina were not the only sibling story being told, as we got to see David and James get into a fist fight, but it was nowhere near as good as the Sisters story. I always seem to forget that David had a twin in the Enchanted Forest, so I guess that shows you how much of an impression that plot made on me. James fell into the River of Lost Souls, and that’s all I have to say about that.
Before we even got the chance to see if Zelena would redeem herself, and not be talked into a diabolical scene by Hades, Rumple shows up with Daddy Dearest, aka Peter Pan, who takes her away. I wanted to see if she was going to be talked into doing something wicked with Hades, or watch her try and change him. Rumple always has to do things his way, and now we might not ever know Hades true agenda. I am saying that because of the preview for next weeks episode entitled Firebird.
This was a stronger episode than the last few weeks, as it did seem to get back to the original plot point, but I am not a fan of retconning. I suppose if that retconning puts an end to the constant, green with envy chip Zelena has been wearing on her shoulder, I will excuse it. She can still be wicked, because Rebecca Mader does wicked very well, but can we redirect that wickedness elsewhere for a while? This whole jealousy bit was going a bit too far!
