Dark Matter Digest, May 08: That’s a Wrap & Ask Zoie Palmer!

Dark Matter season 2 syfy

Lately, I’ve been talking about how season 2 production is nearing the end, but it’s really, really here now.  We’re in the last week of production, folks!  But don’t give up so fast, because there are still tons of BTS pictures, teases a-plenty, and you get the chance to “interview” Zoie Palmer.  You remember Zoie, right?  She plays the android known as Android.  Wacky name, I know, but she’s sticking with it and we all kind of like it, anyway.

SUNDAY

The end of the weekend, Sunday, is often the nicest day of the week, so it’s fitting that today’s entry was about one of the nicest people around.  According to Joe, Melanie Liburd (Nyx Harper) is simply one of the nicest people you could ever meet.  He and Akemi broke bread with Melanie, and of course he’s included a bunch of pictures that’ll just make you hungry.  Did I mention there’s chocolate?  Lots of chocolate and BTS pictures.

MONDAY

This begins the final week of production on Dark Matter season 2!  And while you’d be forgiven for thinking things will be winding down, and indeed they will be for many, Joe’s already planning out season 3.  The man rarely rests, though we all know he takes time for meals.  That’s mostly to make us hungry with all those beautiful pictures.  And the pictures continued with more BTS shots and a cool CGI animation of the Marauder.  You can always find generous helpings of pictures by following Joe’s @DarkMatter_show account on Twitter.

TUESDAY

One last chance.  One last opportunity to vote on a Dark Matter season 2 episode title.  If you didn’t make it by within the first 24 hours, you’re out of luck on voting until season 3.  You can still click on over and check out a couple of cool on-screen VFX animations.  I love those intricately detailed touches that add that extra spark of life to a scene.

WEDNESDAY

We have a winner!  The season 2 finale episode title has been chosen by the fans, and the winner is … at the link.  Click it.  You know you want to.  There’s also a picture of a mysterious blonde who looks familiar.  See if you can figure it out.  There’s even more BTS photos for you!

THURSDAY

Voting on episode titles may be over for the season, but that doesn’t mean your interactive experience is done.  Far from it.  Today, fans were invited to provide questions for everyone’s favorite android, Android (Zoie Palmer).  There still may be time, so hurry and leave your questions in the comments section.  But remember, 3 questions per person.  We want to give everyone a chance.

FRIDAY

It’s the beginning of the end.  Today was the last day of main unit shooting on season 2.  Second unit has something to do on Monday, but this thing is nearly in the can!  There were celebrations!  There was sushi!  There was champagne!  And of course, there was whiskey!  Ooh, and “suit day” gave the gents a chance to show off some fancy duds, but the ladies still looked better.  Sorry, guys.

SATURDAY

It was recently announced that Shaun Sipos is joining the cast of Dark Matter.  If that last name sounds familiar to you, it’s because Shaun’s the brother of Jessica Sipos who played Tash last season.  I still can’t see Jessica without thinking fondly of the awesome, but short-lived Ascension.  Sorry about the tangent, on to the end!  Tonight is the season 2 wrap party and Joe has threatened promised some serious dance moves.  I really hope somebody Periscopes this.  Drop by the link for all this and a lot more pictures!

And that’s it for the week and season two’s main photography!  Dark Matter Digest will take a break next week, but it’ll be back in 2 weeks for a double-dose of what’s going on inside the Raza.  Shooting may be all but over, but there’s still plenty of work to be done before we blast off on July 1.
