Dark Matter Digest, May 29: It’s A Frakking Trailer Park, Man!

Shooting has finished and we’re getting very near the July 1 premiere date for Dark Matter’s second season.  While it might seem as though things are slowing down, it’s very much the opposite from a fan perspective as the trailers begin rolling it.  It’s a trailer apocalypse of the best kind.  And those promos are doing a terrific job at whetting our appetites for more of the Raza crew’s adventures.

SUNDAY

Sundays are generally relaxed days, but Joe never seems to stop.  Today, he teased plans for Dark Matter’s 3rd season and hinted at a new scifi project in the works.  You can also check out the first season 2 trailer and a picture of the beautiful space station where that slimy, slithering Tabor Calchek hangs his scaly hat.  Click on over to the link for a much larger image of the station.

MONDAY

It should come as no surprise that as a writer, Joe is also a rabid reader.  Frustrated with how the established literary awards base their decisions, he’s come up with his own – the Rogue Star Awards.  These are his personal choices and suggestions for Best Graphic Novel, Best Short Story, and Best Novel.  Check it out, you might find a new favorite on his list!

TUESDAY

News arrived that Franka Potente has been cast in the recurring role of Chief Inspector Shaddick of the Galactic Authority’s Serious Crimes Division.  And in case you’d forgotten, Melanie Liburd has been cast as Nyx Harper and Shaun Sipos is disgraced surgeon Devon Taltherd.

WEDNESDAY

Remember that trailer you could watch in Sunday’s entry?  Today, Joe breaks down the rapid-fire scenes into bits to help us make sense of everything that’s jam-packed into just 15 seconds.  There’s also a 2nd cool trailer from Syfy International.  This is a must-read, people!  And once you’re done, check out our breakdown of the trailer in The Dark Matter Season 2 Trailer: An Under-the-Hood Breakdown.

THURSDAY

Today we got a good look at a new ship, the Ishida Cruiser, and it’s gorgeous.  Even though it’s not quite detailed out, the set pictures are beautiful.  I’ll leave you with a teaser image, but you’ve got to go to the link for the rest.

FRIDAY

More tantalizing teasers today!  Joe’s hinted at a Dark Matter spin-off series that works off a different premise, but is set in the same universe.  He also spoke again about his “super secret scifi project” he’s been working on along with several other things in the works.  I can’t wait to hear more!

SATURDAY

Remember how I said trailers were rolling in?  This week has already seen 2 trailers and today we were met with a 3rd extended trailer that shows even more new footage!  In addition, Joe breaks this one down into bite-sized pieces to make it all the more savory.  Not to be left out, we also offered our own analysis in Dark Matter Extended Trailer Breakdown – Let’s Dissect This Puppy.
