Well folks, I have to say that Fear The Walking Dead is moving along very nicely now! In this latest episode, Captive, we are all about the action ramping up! I think we are moving towards appreciating the characters a little more, and have even found our favorites! The storyline and building on character is getting good. I think we may even be falling a little more in love with the show! If you stop and think, and put yourselves in their place, we can see how things are scary and that bad things will happen in this world. They are finally getting it!
So Madison helped Strand back to the yacht. Would you have? He isn’t feeling up to par, and she is driving the boat. When Daniel and Madison talk about regrouping to go look for Travis and Alicia, Luis throws a hissy fit. It seems as though they only have enough money to get 2 people into Mexico. But that doesn’t stop Madison. Strand agrees to a half day of searching. He does owe her, but now they are even.
Poor little maniac Reed. He sure must be suffering, being impaled and all, but Daniel doesn’t really care. He uses his skills and gets some info out of the doomed young man. You see Reed is all about family, which consists of his big brother Conner, the leader of the group that took our people. Reed is the maniac of the two, often being abused when he was little. And it shows. This kid is messed up. Daniel finds that he was supposed to kill all aboard and bring the boat to Conner. Daniel asks Chris to keep an eye on Reed from outside the door, and goes to tell the others about a plan. Of course this doesn’t end well for Reed. he keeps trash talking Chris, and you can see the anger well up. While Daniel is discussing the plan with Madison, they hear a shot, and find that Chris has shot Reed in the face. he claims that Reed died and was changing, but we all know the truth don’t we?
We find out that Travis and Alicia have been taken to Conner’s ship. It is a huge Tuna boat and although Alicia is not caged, Travis is. Alicia is wined and dined, so to speak, by Conner, who is ready to find a job for her and put her to use. Travis on the other hand, is shocked to see Alex, from Flight 462. She approaches him and tells him that she is the one who gave all the info to Conner. She is pissed that Travis didn’t have the balls to do something for her and Jake. Jake was in bad shape and dying, and she explained how she pushed him out of the raft when the time came. Alex seems all bad ass here, and I understood her frustration, but it really wasn’t all Travis’ fault. The man to blame should have been Strand.
Jack and Alicia talk. They want her to be the one reeling in the next victims in their boat and supply stealing caper. Of course she doesn’t feel right about that and only wants safety for her family. When she finds that Travis is locked up, and that Reed has every intention of killing the group on the Abigail, she gets really freaked out and tries to attack Jack with a knife from his pocket! She eventually talks Jack into going with her and escaping. He is pretty well fed up with it also. When she finds Travis, he tells her to leave and get away. She doesn’t want to leave him, but goes to to hide.
With the plan made between our group, to go rescue the others. They decide to deliver the boat to Conner as Reed planned to. Conner will be expecting it. When the cover gets blown and Conner finds out Reed is hostage, they make a deal to exchange Travis and Alicia for Reed. Conner wants his brother back. But all doesn’t go well here, as Reed was shot by Chris and now he really has changed and become one of the infected! Before putting him out of his misery, Daniel suggests it can still be done. They will tie him and put a bag over his head and go along like nothing is wrong! Brilliant, and also an ‘easter egg’ to a scene in the Walking Dead comic with Holly!
Well…how do you think that goes over? Not good for Conner’s group, as they exchange hostages, Reed is discovered to be infected and takes a mighty bite out of his brother’s arm. In the ensuing fight, our group gets away on the yacht’s raft, leaving a stunned Jack behind on the dock.
What are you feeling about this season of Fear The Walking Dead? Do you agree with me that it is finally making a name for itself? How do you like the progression of the story so far? Let me know! Leave a comment!
