Gotham Season Finale Episode 222: Transference Review

Gotham Season finale- After a wild ride season and a much improved story line all around we have arrived at the season finale of season two!

This was definitely the season of transformations, every single character has changed completely from where they were at the start of season two.  From Bruce’s battles to Penguin’s losses: everyone experienced a lot of crap this whole season and it really reflects on the character’s and even Gotham city in this season finale.

Let’s get down to business, Hugo Strange has been such an intense character the second half of this season.  It adds a whole new depth to Gotham seeing how this is how the villains, well most of them, were created for Bruce in the future. I’m excited that this allowed them to bring back Galavan and Fish (holy crap Fish is back!), and that obviously means Jerome can return too, so now we have the possibility that our Joker will appear in season three (fingers crossed).  Of course with this possibility that means that we could also get Scarecrow soon too, though I’m not sure what exactly happened to him!  I wonder what’s going to happen to Strange, of course he plays a huge part in current Batman stories, but how does he get to where he is?  Who’s going to take over Arkham while he’s locked away? I’m sure Peabody will be able to, but after everything she’s seen and been through will she really want to? She told Fish that she was lonely, and I doubt Hugo being gone will change that at all!

Bruce grew up a lot this season, from almost dying at Galavan’s hands to living on the streets with Selina and then back to being that level headed kid that he is, it’s been a whirlwind of a season, and of course no one can handle that acting better than David Mazouz, holy crap that kid is something else!  He’s more powerful and convincing than ever and it’s awesome to see Bruce transform and meld into a more believable Batman.  This show is definitely turning up the heat in the Batman area, especially with Selina and Bruce’s relationship, and of course how much Lucius Fox is becoming a part of the show too.  My favorite line of this episode is when Selina says “I have you wrapped around my finger, Bruce” because it is so true! Their relationship in this show is done so beautifully and it shows that he starts to gain a dependence on her from early on.

Penguin’s transformation has been a really impressive one as well.  He started completely on top and now falling all the way down and turning into a lunatic (he really is now, I’ll admit that).  I love that his crazy bounces off of Barbara’s crazy so well.  I’m really not sure where they’re going to go next with him. What’s going to happen next with him? Now that Fish is back what does this mean for Gotham city?  I’m so excited that they were able to bring Fish back.  After things seemed to smooth out for Butch and Penguin this is going to shake things up a lot! Nygma’s whole story has been a bumpy one too! Now he’s locked in Arkham, with no real assurance that’s he’s going to get out anytime soon! It does sort of suck that everyone used him so badly during the finale, I mean yeah he’s a bad guy and he framed Gordon, but still. You kind of have to feel bad for the guy!

You gotta give it to Butch that he loves his big guns and I love how crazy things can get when he actually gets his hands on them.I’m so excited to see how Bruce takes on this Secret Council, I’m so curious to see whether or not this will lead up to the Court of Owls or anything like that. What an explosive season finale, things definitely wrapped up really nicely, but as usual a whole new Hell has been unleashed on Gotham. WHAT THE HECK?! ANOTHER BRUCE? HOLY CRAP! What does this mean? I can’t believe we have to wait so long for the next season!

Stay tuned, we’ll be updating with Gotham news as soon as we can!
