Last Rites was a hard episode to watch for some, due mainly to the death of Robin, but I expected his death and I had prepared myself. I found myself, once again, engaging in discussion of the episode before I fully processed it for review purposes. I did not discuss every aspect of what happened in last nights episode of Once Upon A Time, but I did find a lot of the conversations centered around the death of Robin, and Hook’s resurrection. I am going to break this review down into sections, so that my thoughts will be more organized. Usually, I find most of my reviews are all over the place.
HADES AND ZELENA
The whole relationship between these two was an absolute snooze fest, and the best thing to come out of it was a relationship between Regina and Zelena. These two are finally sisters, at least for now, and I am hoping that they can help each other heal. I really would not want them both to become wicked, and live in OZ together. I did feel bad for Zelena that she got played by yet another person, but she really should have known that it was too good to be true.
I understand how a woman, who so desperately craves loves, would want to believe that a person can change, but that is not always the case for some. Hades might have fallen in love with her in some fashion, but it was in conjunction with his love for power, so it was not based on the truest kind of love. Regina finally knows the meaning of true love, and she knows she had that with Robin. She knows that he sacrificed himself to save her, and not once, but twice! Kudos to Zelena for figuring out in the end that Hades would not have lived up to his promises, and for killing him with the Olympus Crystal!

REGINA AND ROBIN
I know that a lot of fans are upset that Robin died, because that means that Regina does not get her happy ending. Of course, this led to Emma always getting her happy ending, and how its not fair. Careful, fans might start turning green with envy if they keep up with this line of thought. Robin was meant to die, and there is plenty of evidence to support this fact. Regina knows that he loved her, and she also knows what true love means. She has had a taste of it, and she will know it again when she sees it coming her way. I just hope that she does not go all evil again, but I don’t think it will happen.
The reason I think Robin was meant to die is due to the fact that he had already died, and it was, once again, in order to save Regina’s life. Regina had him brought back to life in Camelot, and we know that death came a calling for her.I thought his death made sense, because magic was used to bring him back, and a life for a life debt was owed. Since that debt was never paid, death took him back the same way he died the first time, saving Regina. All magic comes with a price, and I knew that one was going to come back and bite them in the arse hard. I am not saying it always makes sense, because the rules don’t seem to apply to everyone, I get it!

MY FINAL THOUGHTS
I loved the Captain Swan parts, but not so much, the Outlaw Queen parts! I would love to see Regina very happy, and in a committed relationship. I really believe she deserves it. I hope that Zelena will completely change, and be there for her sister. I hope neither one will return to their evil, and wicked ways. I think my only real criticism of this show is that every time we have a villain, they are easily defeated, and there is never really any danger to our heroes. They never really have to face down some true huge villains, at least they end up not having to fight very hard to defeat them. Hades was a God, and even though the Olympus Crystal is the only thing that could kill him, it was still ant-climatic.
I want to be sitting on the edge of my seat wondering if our heroes can defeat this foe or not. Sure, we always have Rumple as the villain, but it is also predictable, and he is just not doing it for me, villain wise anymore. Will he be good, can he be good? We already have the answer to those questions, and I am bored. I think I want some fresh meat for a villain, one that will last all season long, and make me really afraid for our heroes. Because guess what? I’m never really afraid for your heroes, and I should be! What did you think of Last Rites? Sound off in the comments below!
