What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested superpowers called Quirks? Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Being a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study? The Hero Academy, of course! But what would you do if you were one of the 20 percent who were born Quirkless?
The stories main character Izuku is a Quirkless geeky type who fawns over keeping records of every heroes actions and skills in his notebooks. His childhood friend Bakugo Katsuki got his quirk when they were both young and he quickly made sure Izuku knew he was better. Never the less Izuku followed him around like a puppy clearly not on the same page as Bakugo. I think you can see now why the series gets the Naruto/Sasuke comparisons right?
Everything changes for Izuku when he meets All Might and ends up having his power One For All gifted to him, something that is a huge secret. This allows Izuku to pass the entrance exam to the big hero school he has always wanted to attend and now his training to become a hero begins. The first 2 volumes were filled with right in the guts emotion as Izuku learns at a young age from the doctor that he will likely never gain a quirk and should give up his obsession with becoming a hero. Those eyes, man, they tear at you.
My Hero Academia has everything you could want from a hero anime which includes a huge cast of characters to love and hate, great backstory, tons of future story potential, super powers and school life. What more could you want? Read the manga, its a lot of fun and if you enjoy anime also watch that because so far they are doing the manga a lot of justice which is nice for a change. (No massive fillers so far).
