Meanwhile in a different hell dimension

In last issue we found out that Buffy had some cunning plan on how to stop D’hoffryn from writing in the Vampyr Book and gaining infinite powers of magic. This comic starts off with our chief vengeance demon talking to his crew about how it is great to be in the vengeance fold, but how it kind of sucks having to only get to work your powerful mojo when a mortal human wishes for something. So yes, things are gonna have to change says the boss man and is starting to write into the Vampyr book, that he will have the power to carry out his magic without human wishes. But the ink, won’t work it is like someone has changed his pen for a comedy one. D’hoffryn guesses that perhaps the Scoobies are behind this and does some cosmic spying from his own hell dimension. And low and behold, cleaver old Buffy has sussed that if people won’t believe that D’hoffryns writing in the book can come true, he can’t actually write anything in the tricky book. This of course angers D’hoffryn and he decides that this is it for the Scoobies, their time has come.

Fight, talk, sizzle and burn

Buffy and the gang are gearing up for the fight when D’hoffryn’s lot shows up, and rips up the Scoobies ceiling. Everyone but Xander are a bit perplexed to see Anya. Oh yeah, The Xan-man has neglected to mention he has been haunted by Anya. Except she isn’t Anya, but a clone type being D’hoffryn has cooked up. Buffy gives Xander a stern telling off for not telling them about Ghostly not-Anya. They then seem to remember that they are under attack and ask D’hoffryns “why u so mad”? He claims it is because they got Anya killed. Which Xander agrees was his fault. Buffy however thinks this is a load of old bollocks as it was D’hoffryn who treated Anya badly, killed her friend in front of her and stripped her of her powers which sent her to her early demise. D’hoffryn has had enough and magic starts flying around. Xander tries talking some sense into Not-Anya, as do the rest of the Scoobies. But she has had enough and turns Xander into a pile of dust.

I mean, like what the actual hell??? They killed off Xander? For reals? I sincerely hope that this is one of those vengeance-doobies that can be retracted. Because OMG! Please hurry up and bring out the next issue, because this is a bit much to handle for me!
