No Empire State Building, no transporting giant monkeys on a ship, at least not in the trailer, but there’s a new King Kong movie coming. With an interesting cast – Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, John Goodman, and Brie Larson – it looks awfully super-sized. I’ll bet you anything that there will be a damsel in distress, and a touching monkey moment, though. Here’s the trailer that was released at ComicCon over the weekend:
What else can we do to King Kong? I can hear someone asking themselves. There certainly haven’t been enough giant ape movies, have there? Obviously not! I have a lot of friends who will go see this just because Hiddles is in it (face it, we love John Goodman, but he’s not the big hot attraction), and the trailer does look pretty cool – if you like shoot ’em up, explode-o movies – WHICH I DO!!! The plot, according to Cinemablend, follows Hiddleston, who “reportedly embarks on this journey after his brother becomes stranded there while on a quest to find a mythical serum that is supposedly the cure for all diseases and illnesses. That would, admittedly, be rather handy to have.”
Written by John Gatins and Max Borenstein (who also wrote Godzilla, could a crossover be far behind?) and directed by Jordan Vogt Roberts, the film is scheduled to be released March 2017.
