Welcome to Dark Matter Digest, Aug 14: The Interrogation of Nyx!  We are smack-dab in the middle of season two and Dark Matter continues to excite, amaze, and amuse in equal measure.  But the show itself is only half the fun.  Joseph Mallozzi’s blog is a font of knowledge for behind-the-scenes info and teasers.  Each week, we distill the goodness from his site and serve it up as our own aperitif to the blog.  We do this because we love Dark Matter and we love the fans!

Reading these entries, I know you’ll find several somethings that interest you.  When you do, click on the day’s link to check out Joe’s blog firsthand.  You will always find more in each entry than we tease in the digest.  So read on and click boldly on those links to learn even more!

SUNDAY

Our lazy Sunday was brightened considerably by today’s entry which focused on the delightful Melanie Liburd (Nyx).  A few weeks back, readers submitted questions for the newcomer and today brought the answers!  If there’s anything you’d like to know about Melanie or her character Nyx, I’m sure it’s covered here.

MONDAY

If anybody should have the Monday blues, it’s Joe and Akemi’s pug, Bubba.  Yeah, Three’s gun was named after him, but that’s another matter.  Bubba is preparing for some minor surgery and that’s never fun, is it?  On the other side of the coin, Akemi’s eyesight is fantastic after her Lasik!  So, while not fun, sometimes a little adjustment is just what the doctor ordered.  You will also find links to several very interesting articles about Dark Matter that are very good reads.

TUESDAY

Good news, everyone!  Bubba made it through surgery with ease.  He may be old, but he’s tough.  Today also brought a raft of reviews for episode 206 “We Should Have Seen This Coming”.  Click on over and check out a few.

WEDNESDAY

Just two days before episode 207 “She’s One of Them Now” and we’re treated to a promo and sneak peek.  Oh, and if you’re not hungry now, you will be after clicking the link.  Joe and Akemi met up with Stargate creator/showrunner Robert C. Cooper and his wife Hilary.  Rob, as Joe calls him, has a special-made pizza oven and put it to good use.  I’m salivating just thinking about the wonderfully creative pizzas highlighted at the site!

THURSDAY

T-minus one day until the launch of episode 207, “She’s One of Them Now” directed by Jason Priestley.  There are lots of pictures at the link showing Jason in action directing a great episode.  And if you can’t get enough Nyx (and who can?), there’s an interview with Melanie Liburd, too.

FRIDAY

The week long wait that seems longer than a week is finally over.  It’s time to jump to FTL and see what the title “She’s One of Them Now” means.  This episode marks the return of David Hewlett as Tabor Calchek, the sleaziest handler this side of the Great Rift.  At the link you’ll also find several previews of the episode and an interview with Joe.

Oh, the things you’ll know if you talk to Joe!

SATURDAY

After another successful episode, Saturday is a day of reflection.  Today, there are numerous reviews and recaps to be had at the link.  Overall, the reaction was very positive and every review offered a unique perspective on the episode.  And if you’re still feeling like number two over the loss of One, there’s some good news.  No, Marc Bendavid isn’t coming back (yet?), but he is starring in a Hallmark Channel movie, Summer in the City.  Learn more at the link.
