FOX network executives have begun serious talks with creator Chris Carter and stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to produce more episodes of The X-Files. FOX executives made this statement at the summer Television Critics Association summer press tour. After the most recent return the series, fans were upset at the very short 6 episode order. According to TVLine they are looking for 8-10 new episodes. 10 would put the series at what has become the standard number of episodes for mid-season and summer shows.

Dana Walden was quoted telling TVLine “We would have liked to have done more [episodes] in the first place. It was really the limitations of David and Gillian and Chris’ schedules. Gillian lives in the UK, David lives in New York and California, and we do the show in Vancouver. Chris lives up north. So it was just trying to coordinate a time where they all carve out a period to be in Vancouver.”

Most fans of the series welcomed the recent revival, but others felt it awkward how the series had to re-introduce itself after 14 years off the air. Luckily, now that we have that out of the way, any new episodes will not have to revisit that.
