HBO has released a new trailer for their latest original series, Westworld, and I have to say that with each new glimpse we get, I am more and more excited to see this series. The tantalizing glimpses we get of the worlds and the characters involved here is playing directly to what I love best in my TV series. Well-thought out worldbuilding, interesting characters, and plot stakes that actually mean something.
The press release from HBO states that ” WESTWORLD is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin, exploring a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.”
Sounds great, doesn’t it? Except when you stop to consider what exactly “every human appetite” really means, and the possibilities for things to go…awry. The one-hour drama series will kick off its ten-episode season on Sunday, October 2nd at 9:00pm(ET/PT). It’s been created for television by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who are also executive producing and writing for it. Nolan is also directing it. The series is inspired by the 1973 motion picture “Westworld,” written and directed by Michael Crichton, that starred Yul Brynner and James Brolin.
