Do you love to connect with fellow Outlander fans? Have fun sharing the Jamie & Claire goodness? Me too! So if you’re starting to get in the holiday spirit – and believe me, I know it’s only September – it’s time to sign up for the 3rd Annual Holiday Gift Exchange!
For the past two years, I’ve organized 150-person Outlander gift exchanges, and we’ve had a ton of fun! The gifts that have been sent have been beautiful – all selected with friendship and shared Outlander love in mind, many hand-made, always thoughtful. And now our third year of the Gift Exchange is waiting for you. It’s open worldwide, and you can indicate whether you’re comfortable sending outside of your home country or not (postage can get expensive – but you may be able to find an Etsy vendor in the country your recipient lives in who will be willing to send with a little card, thus saving the international postage). I recommend a spending limit for gifts of about $20. Gifts should be Outlander-related, and my only restriction is no fitted clothing (t-shirts, etc).
Want to participate? Here are the details:
- Sign-ups MUST be made through our dedicated Outlander Facebook page, Outlander – Three If By Space. (You’ll want to “like” the page whether you do the gift exchange or not – I do exclusive contests and post fun stuff there!) You must send a private message to the page – this is the only way I can keep everybody straight and send out all the necessary information. No email, no messages to me personally, no Twitter.
- Message with all of the following information: name, email address, mailing address, favorite Outlander book and character, which Outlander groups you belong to, if there are any things you are allergic to and/or just can’t stand (scented items, foods, wool, things with nuts, etc.) and whether you’re willing to mail outside of your home country (note that the vast majority of our participants are from the US).
- Signups will close October 8 OR when the 150 participant limit is reached, whichever comes first.
- About October 15, I’ll send you the information about the person you will send a gift to, also by Facebook messaging. I ask that you let me know you received this info.
- Gifts should be sent by November 15, or sooner if you’re sending internationally. Be respectful of your giftee’s “no no list.” Please obtain – and KEEP – a tracking number, if possible. Packages do go off course, and you’d be surprised at how many messages I get saying “I never received a gift…” which I hate to see! And without a tracking number it’s difficult to pin down.
- When you receive your gift, please send your new friend a thank you, and send me a photo of the gift!
- If you find at any point that you can no longer participate, PLEASE let me know as soon as possible. I understand that unexpected complications happen, but please try to let me know.
