Mad is as Mad Does: The Hatter Arrives in Gotham

The Hatter has arrived!

After a lot of talk pre-season about the newest villain’s role in the series we get to see his character finally come to light!  Jervis Tetch: a hypnotist by trade and a murderer by blood, they reveal both sides of him very quickly.  We learn about his sister Alice and his desire to find her since the breakout from Indian Hill.  Alice has some interesting traits about her as well.  She has poisonous blood that infects people and makes them crazy.  That’s scary!  Jervis has a flair for the dramatic and often likes to hypnotize people just for fun.  We see his manipulation go out of control twice, with Barbara and Gordon.

After Gordon brings his sister home safe, Jervis attempts to hypnotize him into jumping off of the building.  Alice and Jervis get into a big of a scuffle, resulting with Alice firing a gun at her brother and him fleeing for safety.  Can’t you feel the sibling love?  I’m definitely interested in learning more about their back story, which Danny Cannon did promise us (see that happen here).

Penguin, well well well.  “Make Gotham Safe Again” is the best slogan and it’s hilarious that he is deciding to run for mayor of Gotham.  He’s decided that the best way to get the citizens of Gotham to do what he wants is to become an elected official.  This isn’t such a bad idea for him, he knows what Gotham needs and he’s going to make Gotham what he thinks it should be.  Now, for the citizens of Gotham, that’s not really an ideal situation.  With his new found power he decides to break out, er, lawfully release, our very own Edward Nygma! I’m so excited for these two to get more screen time together!

The Boys Are Back in Town

Actually I should say the girl is. Lee is back and with her comes some baggage… or a lot of baggage. Her new beau’s family is one of the most well-known in Gotham: the Falcone’s! Oh snap.  I wonder why Lee decided to withhold that information from Jim, or from anyone for that matter.  It seems like it could be a conflict of interest in her work at the GCPD, regardless of the fact that the Falcone’s don’t call the shots anymore.  Either way, this is an interesting shift in power.  It’s putting it into the hands of someone else, which this show is really good at doing!

This is going to turn everything upside down and I have a feeling the power struggle between the three pillars will rise again. Fish, Penguin, Falcone all back in Gotham, which as of now has absolutely no structure. Things are going to get out of control really quickly and I have a feeling no one will be safe.
