Special operatives Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) maintain order throughout the universe for the government of the human territories. Under orders from their commander (Clive Owen), the duo embark on a mission to Alpha, an intergalactic city where diverse species share their technology and resources for the betterment of all. The ever-expanding metropolis is also home to sinister forces that jeopardize the future of mankind.
Seemingly out of nowhere this teaser trailer comes out for a film that many had not been paying attention to. Its a rare sight that a film can come out with a teaser like that and have so little information leaked about it up until now. And they managed to avoid spoiling the entire film in their teaser like some films have done.
From director Luc Besson, who directed one of my all time favorite Sci-fi films The Fifth Element, Valerian feels like a broad world. For me, that bodes well for the film. The film is based on the French science fiction comic series Valérian and Laureline, who’s influence was seen in Star Wars, Avatar and Besson’s other classic film, The Fifth Element.
You may leave this trailer saying, “I don’t get what its about”. Thats good because this is a teaser. A full trailer should be around the corner soon and when it does drop we will get a clear picture of the plot itself in the film. The visuals are stunning, but will they look too fake? If the story is well done and the acting is well cast, it shouldn’t matter.
