Tomorrow, Jan 23rd, the Timeless team chases history’s most notorious outlaw through the West as they pursue Flynn and make a crucial discovery about his mission.
Flynn (Goran Višnjic) teams up with legendary outlaw, Jesse James (guest star Daniel Lissing). Together they cut a bloody swath across the American frontier. Hot on Flynn’s trail, Lucy (Abigail Spencer), Wyatt (Matt Lanter) and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) enlist the help of an iconic Marshal to help bring the fugitives to justice. Also starring Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit. Guest starring Annie Wersching, Colman Domingo and Zahn McClarnon.
The Timeless promo makes me laugh a bit with the adjectives that are used in describing Jesse James and the Lone Ranger. Jesse James is a legendary outlaw, but I don’t feel he was the most notorious of the Old West outlaws. My money is on Billy the Kid when it comes to that title, but hey – to each their own.
I’m also fairly certain that the “Lone Ranger” is a fictional character. Instead, I’m thinking that we’re going to be meeting Bass Reeves tomorrow night on Timeless as the Marshall being brought in to help the Time Trio. Some people say Reeves was the inspiration for the Lone Ranger… and yet he was never a Texas Ranger and he’s always played by a white dude so… yeah. I’m calling that mistake out already since the Old West is my history nerd time period. I’m certain though that Lucy will give information on Reeves in her trademark “explain the history” dialogue so his actual name and history is presented to the audience.
However, I am extremely interested to see how Flynn is going to fit in with the James-Younger gang, and what parts of the Old West are going to be touched by Rittenhouse’s dirty little hands. It they keep to James’ history as a train robber, I’m going to assume that it will be one of the railroad companies which would make sense. There was a lot of investment in the railroads at that time, so to mess with the transportation from East to West would cost the people in charge a lot of money.
