Wow! I can’t believe that we only have 2 episodes of The Walking Dead left! This week’s episode, ‘The Other Side‘, turned out to be one of the best ones of the season by far. Of course, that is only my opinion, but I loved it! It was a ‘touchy feely’ time for many in our group.
The first 5 minutes of this episode, although there was no dialogue, proved to be heartwarming, as well as sad. To see Maggie and Sasha training the Hilltop people for the coming war was great. Although, Sasha had that look about her. The look that shows what she is feeling. It was almost as if she was wondering if they all can survive this. Maggie showed determination in the training as well. They have to turn regular people into top notch fighters for the coming battle.
One of the things we know from this episode, is that Jesus is gay. In a sweet little scene between Maggie and Jesus, he relays that fact. Most of us knew it was coming, but I am glad it is finally out. He talked to Maggie of never feeling that he fit in, with anyone. Now it’s revealed, so maybe we will see him with a love interest soon.
When the Savior’s showed up at Hilltop, too early for their regular visit, we worried. It was obvious that they are looking for Daryl. When maggies sees this, she ushers Daryl down the basement of the big house to hide. She is thought to be dead also, so they both needed to get out of sight. What happened down there between them, was critical to the continuing storyline. It cleared up a long awaited wonderment. Daryl has had almost no contact with Maggie since episode 1 of this season. When Maggie asks Daryl what is wrong and why he hasn’t spoken to her, he breaks down crying. He has obviously felt so guilty over causing Glenn’s death, that he has stayed clear of her. When Maggiee sees how deeply guilt ridden and emotional Daryl is, she comforts him. She tells him it was not his fault’ and that he is a good man like Glenn was, and that he shouldn’t feel guilty. This scene made me cry, I have to admit.
A worrisome scene with Gregory and Simon played out. You can almost tell that Gregory wanted to tell Simon about the two hideaways. Gregory is not liking the fact that Maggie has slipped so easily into leadership. All of Hilltop like her, and want to fight to end the horror of being under Negan’s rule. Gregory is seen whispering something to Simon, and I still haven’t got it figured out. Have you?
Sasha is seen gearing up for war. Rosita has asked her to help battle Negan together. You can see Sasha’s thoughts through out this whole episode. She is scared, hurt, grieving and determined to kill Negan. When the 2 of them leave Hilltop with the map that Jesus supplied, the mission begins. Is it a suicide mission? Yes, of course it is. According to all spoilers, Sasha will die in the end. After getting up close to the Sanctuary, Rosita and Sasha see Eugene. He seems to be non chalant about being a prisoner there.
The two young woman finally talk. This has been along time coming. Rosita tells Sasha about the men she has come across and the skills she has acquired along the way. We find out the inner workings of Rosita. We also find out, how much she really loved Abe. they speak of him with funny and fond memories. Rosita asks Sasha if she was happy. Yes… They both realize that they have wasted too much time over this and agree to have each others backs, no matter what. It was all the feels I needed and cried during this scene also. Did you?
When darkness falls and they cut through the fence to get in, Eugene finds them and is quick to tell them he doesn’t want to be rescued. He runs away like a scared rabbit. With their gunshots from killing a couple Saviors is heard and the alarm sounds. Sasha pushed Rosita away. Telling her that the group needs her and all of her skills. Rosita tries to argue, but Sasha makes her run. Sasha runs and is on her own.
The beginning of ‘All Out War’ is coming. With 2 episodes left this season, I believe that the last 2 will be both extreme, and paramount to the continuing story. Who will die? Who will join the battle? and , who will win? Join us next week, for more discussion.
