If you somehow missed it, or if you’re just wanting to watch it again (like me), here’s the “Next Time” trailer for Doctor Who 1003. The episode title is appropriately titled Thin Ice and finds the Doctor and Bill in Regency England. Yes, I googled it to find out that it’s a period in the early 1800s. I don’t know these things! Half the time I don’t know where my car keys are. Don’t judge me. Or if you do, do it quietly where I can’t hear.

So Bill is being very Bill and enjoying herself, but of course there’s something sinister going on. There’s always something sinister going on. People are disappearing while on the ice-covered Thames. The Doctor’s plan? Dive in! Which they do, only to be confronted by a maniacal dude dressed a bit like a circus ringmaster. Naturally, he’s got something called “the creature” and naturally it must be fed. I mean, ain’t that what creatures generally want to do? And it’s always people with these creatures. Why not try a tasty cow or an entire doughnut shop once in a while you evil idiots.

Episode synopsis from the Radio Times:

In Regency England, beneath the frozen Thames, something is stirring. The Doctor and Bill arrive at the last of the great frost fairs and find themselves investigating a string of impossible disappearances – people have been vanishing on the ice! Bill is about to discover that the past is more like her world than she expected, and that not all monsters come from outer space.
