Spring 2017 Anime

Which Spring 2017 Anime You Should Watch

We are just starting to dive into the spring 2017 anime season. There are some major series returning. And there are some new spin offs as well. If you missed any of our top picks for the winter 2017 season, check them out here. There is an ever growing option of online streaming services now taking up licenses in the spring season. Beyond Crunchyroll and Funimation, Hulu and Amazon’s Anime Strike are also premiering some hot new titles for Spring.

Attack On Titan Season 2 – Streaming On Funimation Subbed & Dubbed (Starting April 23rd)

This is no joke, Attack On Titan is back! After the long wait for a new season, the series returns right where it left off. Many fans had decided to read ahead in the manga after such a long wait. I don’t blame them. However, the animation from WIT Studio is just too damn good to ignore watching this. Funimation is going to make the dub fans happy though. Only 3 episodes into the new season and the first dubbed episode will air on April 23rd on Funimation.com AND Toonami that same night.

After a bittersweet victory against the female Titan, a horde of Titans approaches the Wall Rose, and the battle for humanity continues!

My Hero Academia – Streaming On Funimation.com Dubbed (Hulu Subbed)

My favorite new anime of last year, My Hero Academia returns to the Spring 2017 Anime season. Funimation actually had this dub launch on the same day as the new season subbed launched in Japan. You can also catch it subbed on Hulu.

Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not enough to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies.

Boruto: Naruto The Next Generation – Streaming On Hulu and Crunchyroll

There are many Naruto fans who will not watch this saying the manga and anime ended and they are satisfied. I was very late getting into Naruto but caught up. After watching the new film and the first 2 episodes of the new series I can say that I am excited to dive back into the world.

The life of the shinobi is beginning to change. Boruto Uzumaki, son of Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, has enrolled in the Ninja Academy to learn the ways of the ninja. Now, as a series of mysterious events unfolds, Boruto’s story is about to begin!

Granblue Fantasy The Animation (Aniplex Of America) – Stream On Crunchyroll

We got to watch the first 2 episodes awhile ago and then there was a long break before the newest episode aired but so far this fantasy series has been very fresh for the new anime season. I am a bit bummed that Aniplex got it, because if I do decide to purchase it down the road, My wallet is going to hate me.

This is a world of the skies, where many islands drift in the sky. A boy named Gran and a talking winged lizard named Vyrn lived in Zinkenstill, an island which yields mysteries. One day, they come across a girl named Lyria. Lyria had escaped from the Erste Empire, a military government that is trying to rule over this world using powerful military prowess. In order to escape from the Empire, Gran and Lyria head out into the vast skies, holding the letter Gran’s father left behind—which said, “I will be waiting at Estalucia, Island of Stars.”

Of course these are far from the only titles from the spring 2017 anime season worth looking at. We also recommend checking out:

  1. The Clockwork Planet (Funimation)
  2. Atom: The Beginning (Anime Strike)
  3. Is It Wrong To Pick A Girl In A Dungeon? Sword Oratoria (Anime Strike)
