It has been several months since the new season of Code Geass was announced. Now we have our first look at the new season of the beloved series. Fans have mostly been excited to revisit the world of Code Geass. Whether you like it or not, Code Geass is returning for a third season. They also revealed that we would be getting a set of recap films that would cover the 50 episodes seasons 1 and 2 of the original anime. Some new cuts of animation are expected in the 3 compilation films according to Anime News Network.

The continuation of the series, season 3 technically, was code named Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection). In a fairly massive spoiler (if you have not seen the original), they did reveal one interesting fact, which you can see below this new promotional video:

Lelouch is returning, Lelouch himself from the previous anime. He is not an alternate dimension version or clone of the original person. The story itself is set to take place several years after Zero Requiem. It is not yet known the circumstances around Lelouch’s return. The director had said at the end of R2 that he died, and that was the end of it. However, the promo at this event reveals that he is revived and returns. Plus the code name for the new series pretty much backs that up.

The OVA series Code Geass: Akito the Exiled was licensed by Funimation and is expected to be released on home video this June.
