If you’re reading this, it’s now less than a week until the exciting two-hour season three premiere of Dark Matter. Even if you’re not reading this, it’s still less than a week until the S3 premiere. Reading something doesn’t change reality, only your perception of it. But you probably knew all that and very little of this actually has to do with the show, anyway. For more relevant news and information, read on. I (mostly) stay on-topic.
We learned today that Suji and Lulu are dogs of two coasts. Suji is loving Vancouver’s west coast lifestyle and her ever-growing fame. Lulu, however, misses the Toronto dog parks and the attention of a Mr. Bartok. The two are buds, and buds like to hang together. Soon, Lulu, soon. Season 4 will see your happy reunion come to fulfillment.
Today we learned the winner of the “match dog memes to episode titles” contest. “Chad B.” won with 10 out of 13 correct matches. He won a signed Dark Matter script! Congratulations, Chad!! Another thing we learned? I’m incredibly bad at this game; I got 1 out of 13. I’m so bad at this that random matching would’ve produced better results.
There are plenty of BTS pix to ogle today. Adding to your reading value are Joe’s thoughts on Japanese food in Vancouver and Toronto. (Hint: Vancouver wins hands-down) They’re also planning another visit to Japan, searching for a condo, showing the house, and making plans to reconvene the Dark Matter writers’ room in June! I’ve told you before, he’s a busy boy.
You know the premiere is getting close when the interviews start dropping. Melissa O’Neil (Two) was on CTV’s “The Social” then both she and Anthony Lemke (Three) chatted season 3 on CP24’s breakfast show. For those readers who are not in Canada, you won’t be able to watch Melissa in her solo interview. However, CP24’s interview with Two and Three is not geolocked (at least not in the US) so you can watch and watch and watch until season 3 premieres!
And more good news as Dark Matter is reported to be the 2nd-most-watched show on Space behind the venerable Doctor Who. That’s good company in my book! Joe also shared even more season 3 pictures and a link to the Lez Geek Out! Podcast episode where they discuss our show.
Man, a whole lot happened today. We learned the answer to a question many have been asking: When will Dark Matter premiere internationally? There’s a TV interview with Melissa O’Neil and Anthony Lemke and a bunch of season 3 stills. But the best part, I think, is the story behind Torri Higginson’s Commander Truffault. Go read it.
If you love to read, today was your day. Last year, frustrated with established awards and their convoluted methodologies, Joe created his own awards for best reads: Rogue Star Awards. Here, he offers the winners in the categories of “Best Comic Book Series”, “Best Short Story”, Best Novelette”, “Best Novel”, “Best Non-Fiction Book”, and “Best Novel (Non-Genre)”. Joe reads. A lot. Like 100+ books last year lot.
At exactly one week until launch, Joe blasted us with a ton of goodies again. There are stills aplenty and an exclusive clip from the season three premiere that’s nearly 2 ½ minutes long. And in case you were thinking of causing trouble, Suji’s got a video message for you, tough guy!
The first day of the weekend saw the sharing of a couple of posts on what season 3 has in store. There’s also a trailer from Syfy Latin America that has a few new shots in it. There are a number of stills from those new shots that every self-respecting Dark Matter fan needs to see. Afterwards, you may need to sit down for a while. It’s going to be a wild season.
