A very generous gallery of 26 episodic stills from the upcoming Doctor Who episode “The Eaters of Light” has been released. Of them all, my favorite is easily the one of Nardole strolling the countryside in a bathrobe, slippers, and knit cap. There are also a lot of pictures of Romans roaming the landscape, often in the dark. That last bit’s not surprising considering the title of the episode and all that. “The Eaters of Light” wouldn’t sound very menacing at all if every picture were bright and sunny.
There’s lots of scowling and screaming and pointing of pointy swords in an aggressive manner. Oh, and there’s torches. Lots and lots of torches, but no pitchforks. What there’s not a lot of, in fact none at all, are pictures of these titular creatures. The gallery is a lot of fun, but it would be just that much better if we could get a teensy peek or two at the big bad of the episode. Maybe we’ll get more looks into the episode later in the week, but for now this is a great bunch of images.
A hunt for the lost Ninth Roman Legion leads the Doctor, Bill and Nardole into the middle of an ancient battle that could cast humanity into the dark forever. What is inside the cairn? And how far will they have to go defeat the terrifying alien Eaters of Light?
