The Mist is set in a small Maine town, Bridgeville, where community is key but everyone gossips. Bridgeville is already in a bit of a pressure cooker before the mist arrives, with some strife’s between neighbors and a strong sense of small town mentality. You’re either party of the community and you conform to the town’s standards or you’re outcast from the group.
But nobody is prepared for what happens when the mist slowly rolls in from the nearby forest. The mist itself has a largely supernatural element to it, with monsters of various types appearing within it and killing everything in it’s path. But when society starts to break down and basic necessities begin to dwindle, people begin to change and not always for the better, giving the show a brilliantly terrifying human element.
