Killjoys: War Arrives With ‘Attack The Rack’ — Preview

By: John Baker

Dutch called it last week – it’s time to take back the RAC from the Hullen. And that’s the road Ep. 305 of Killjoys rolls down in “Attack The Rack.” Well, sort of.

Our small band of intrepid war-seekers begin the process of cleansing their own RAC of the Hullen, but along the way encounter plots, plans, a mole, betrayal, torture, redemption, and a body count that not only keeps rising, but includes some friend — and that’s just in the first 20 minutes or so.

This week’s journey to save the Quad offers a clearer picture of what Aneela wants, how much butt-kissing Delle Seyah Kendry is willing to perform to stay near the “commander,” and that sense that there’s a far more intricate plan in place for bringing a head-on winner-take-all showdown with Dutch.

As with most of the plans concocted by Dutch, D’Avin and Johnny, the strategy for taking down the RAC and destroying the Hullen seems pretty dialed-in on the surface, but the execution of their plan runs into complications after a promising start. That’s always fun, right? Along the way we get a few surprises regarding who is and who isn’t infected by the green goo – one of which caught me completely off-guard. We’ll see if you think the same.

Episode 305 is another testament to just how hard it will be to eradicate the Hullen from the Quad. Dutch’s drive for all-out war by bringing the cleansed RACs on board takes a decidedly loud and deadly arc. There is hard-fought and costly victory followed by sober realization that assets our gang is counting on can be snatched away in a fiery ball — all over the Quad.

In the end, there’s shock, awe and the reality that reinforcements may be in short supply when it all hits the fan. Along the way, Fancy Lee gets a chance at some self-examination after a face-to-face with a tough nut to crack. The cherry on the Quad sundae is the blooming intimacy between two people we probably are a little surprised about. Or maybe not?
