Tesseract, anyone? A new trailer came out today for Disney’s star-studded adaptation of Madeline L’Engle’s classic A Wrinkle In Time, and OMG!
With an exciting A-list cast – Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, Zach Galifiniakis, a beautifully bedazzled Oprah Winfrey, and a completely bedraggled Chris Pine, it looks like no expense was spared to bring one of my favorite childhood books – and probably my personal entree into science fiction – to life.
A Wrinkle in Time is the first in a series of books (and a Newbery Award Winner), but none of them are anywhere near as well known as the first. Originally published more than 50 years ago, there have been a couple of attempts at putting this complex and fantastical story on film, with little success. But this version, set to be released on March 9, looks so much closer to my memories of the book! The children bouncing balls in rhythm, Dr. Murry (Chris Pine) lost in a dark and shrinking world, and the mysterious Mrs. Who and Mrs. Whatsit helping Meg Murry and her friend Calvin find her genius younger brother Charles Wallace after he sets off to find their father…
