Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, has made quite the splash. While I was looking forward to seeing the movie, there was a part of me that was also a little worried. I grew up watching the first Jumanji and I didn’t want them to ruin a movie that I absolutely love. Turns out, my fears were completely unfounded!
The Beginning
So, we see four teenagers in detention, find this video game and decide to give it a whirl. Little did they know, they were about to be sucked into a very magical adventure. In order to escape, the four must survive and beat each level while running for their lives. They may be very different, but when they start working together, a rather unique bond starts to emerge and may just be the thing that will save their lives.
One of the things that really enticed me about this movie was the actors in it. If you are looking for a good laugh, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Hart, and Jack Black are just what you need. Having the three of them in one movie was absolute genius. How can you not want to watch a movie with them in it? Karen Gillian was also a great addition to the three comedians. She fit in so well and I thought she just did a really great job!

Playing Favorites
If you were to ask me who my favorite character was, I would hands down say that Jack Black, as Bethany, was the best thing I have ever seen. Yes, I know, I really shouldn’t play favorites, but I just can’t help it! He was brilliant! Bethany is a pretty and popular high school girl, who is never without her phone in order to take that perfect selfie. Now, in the game she is transformed into Jack Black’s body and let’s just say, she was less than please about her appearance. Jack Black really nailed the spoiled girl act, I was in tears from laughing so much! I mean, I’ve never seen a guy emulate a girl so perfectly. So, despite loving all of the actors in the movie, Jack Black was by far my absolute favorite.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, was definitely different from the first Jumanji. Instead of it being a board game, it changed into a video game. This was based on the fact that the world and technology was changing, most kids preferred to play video games. So Jumanji changed with the times in order to suck new souls into the dangerous world. We also saw that, instead of the Jumanji world coming out of the game, the players were sucked into the game.

The video game aspect was very unique. I like the fact that each character had special abilities and weaknesses, which popped up on the screen, just like it would when actually playing. There were other characters in the game that had certain roles and could only do certain commands. It reminded us that they were in an actual game with set rules and abilities. Another great addition was that they only had three lives. So, if you died, then you lost a life. I mean, it was just so well done! The fact that they made it really feel like they were in a video game, was great, I honestly have nothing to complain about.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I give the show an A+. It was funny from start to finish and the chemistry between all the actors was really great. You can tell that they all had a lot of fun making Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and it just allows us to enjoy a really awesome movie. The story was great and I was so happy that they made sure to tie up the ending. It was not only hilarious, but there was some serious moments as well, which was a nice combination. I literally have nothing bad to say about this movie. So, if you haven’t seen it yet, you need to get your butt over to a theater and watch this movie! You will not regret it!
