No Country for Old Dads, was a hoot! It was awesome seeing the father/daughter dynamic between Nora and Damien Darhk. It reminds me of my relationship with my father, although in a less demon possessed and psychopathic way. Nora is fighting to make her way in the world and wants her dad to see her as an adult, not a child, which is how he last saw her. Now that they are back together and trying to destroy time in order to free Malas, Nora wants to be a part of the serious action.
Anyone seen Ray? I mean, he’s obviously not making nerdy comments every 5 minutes and the dishes haven’t been done in days. Hello? Ray? Where are you? Oh, wait, Damien and Nora took him as hostage! Poor Ray, his friends were too busy with their own things to even realize that Ray had been missing. But, he doesn’t need to know that. It’ll be our little secret, Legends. I love Ray, I really do, but his naiveté is getting pretty ridiculous. He just can’t see the bad in people and it is constantly getting him into trouble. Even in this episode, he is trying to “fix” Damien and Nora’s issues. They just don’t want to be fixed, though. Even in the end, he is holding out hope for Nora, when there is no reason for that. All she wants is more power! I fear that he may be putting the team in huge danger with his feelings.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow did a great job of setting the stage for the return of Rip and Wally. I was a little disappointed in how little they were actually involved in, “No Country for Old Dads”. Wally did get some screen time, but I was really hoping for more. Hopefully, in the next episode we get to see him in action. I did notice something interesting with Rip, though. He caught Sara and Ava in a very intimate moment, while on the Waverider. I could have sworn that he had the look of jealousy! Does Rip have some feelings for Sara Lance? I have to be honest, I would be very surprised because he hasn’t shown a romantic interest. Yet, we all know that Rip likes to keep things close to his vest, so maybe it won’t be such a big leap.
Things are quickly spiraling out of control as Malas is getting close to being released from captivity. Nora has finally connected with the Spirit Totem, which they swiped from Amaya. While Amaya and Zari were trying to locate it, they discovered that it had officially switched to the dark side. So, that means they now are in possession of the Water Totem and the Spirit Totem. We all awe a huge thanks to Wally, who stole the Fire Totem from Damien, while saving Ray. This kid has some serious skills!
Wally was given the choice to either leave with Rip and Ava, or to join the Legends. Sara impressed on him how well he could fit in with the team and that he could be of great value in their hunt for the Darhks and stopping Malas. He agrees to stay on the Waverider and Rip was very pleased with this outcome. Wally has a lot of potential as a speedster and could come in handy for sticky situations. I am not sure if I trust Rip’s intentions entirely, but I don’t get the sense that Wally is out to ruin the Legends. It will be very interesting to see how he works out in the future episodes and to really see him get his speed on!
The mystery of Ava Sharpe, is now twirling around in my head. At the end of, “No Country for Old Dads”, Rip has Gideon delete a file about Ava. He doesn’t want Sara to know the truth about her. But, what is the truth! It’s just dangling in front of us, teasing us with the juicy drama that could be. It really isn’t fair. There are so many possibilities of what could be on the file. My mind is wandering with all these thoughts. Is Ava some sort of alien? Does she have a secret family, that she was made to forget? Is she from another time? Rip, you bastard, how dare you keep secrets from us!
