Release the Drones! Colony Returns May 2

Frustrated fans, rejoice! USA Network finally announced a starting date for the third season of Colony – the alien-invasion-without-many-alien-scenes show will return on Wednesday, May 2!

The first two seasons of Colony started in January, but when a premiere date wasn’t announced at least by the holidays, we all suspected that the upcoming NBC-broadcast Winter Olympics would affect it. We hadn’t really anticipated such a late start date, but better late than never, right? Episode 1 is entitled Maquis – giving us a hint, as always, to the episode. The Maquis were guerilla bands of French resistance fighters during the German occupation in WWII, mostly in rural areas.

The official synopsis says that the season will start some time after we last saw our heroes, making their way through the checkpoint by convincing the Red Hats that the Hosts planned to eliminate nearly all the humans. Proxy Snyder, he of questionable and changeable loyalty, accompanies them, but secretly pulls a small transmitter button from his pocket and pushes it. What does this do? Set up a tracker? Signal the drones? Close his garage door?

COLONY’s third season begins six months after the Bowmans’ escape from the Los Angeles bloc as Will (Josh Holloway) and Katie (Sarah Wayne Callies) struggle to rebuild their family in the world beyond the walls. When their peaceful existence is shattered, they are sent on an odyssey that will finally reveal the horrifying truth behind Earth’s mysterious occupiers and once again force our heroes to choose sides.
