There’s really nothing like a woman’s anger or the desire for revenge and last night we got just a slight taste of what that looks like. The premier of Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, made one hell of an entrance last night! It was worth the wait and it blew my mind. Speaking of hell and entrances, Lilith is the new bad in town and she wears evil so nicely! The arrival of Lilith on, “On Infernal Grounds”, means that things are going to get very messy, really fast.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate all the love and romance, before we dig into the evil that is Lilith. Seeing Jace and Clary(Clace), together just makes my heart happy. The romance of these two has been festering for so long! I love seeing them together, despite Jace’s psychotic dreams. What the hell is going on with him? When he was dreaming and then he kills Clary, that was insane! Obviously, he is having some side effects from being brought back to life. He needs some help and the sooner the better.
Love is in the air and nothing beats away the Sunday blues like a little Malec. If I am going to be honest, Magnus is probably my favorite character on Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments. I can’t help it! He is just a bad ass! His relationship with Alec is just so sweet. There may be times where they make mistakes and flounder a bit, but they always seem to find a way back to each other. Even when Alec was offered a position in Idris, Magnus showed how much he loved Alec saying, ” Whether you’re in Idris or in New York, I’m not going anywhere.” Oh my gosh! Doesn’t it just melt your heart?
Alright, let’s get down to business. Lilith’s debut in, “On Infernal Grounds”, is just the beginning. She wants her son back and nothing is going to get in her way. Not even poor, unsuspecting Tim. Dang, I feel bad for the guy! He was just trying to help out and what happens, Tim is turned into a psycho killer! And, when he was done being useful, his body was ripped up and destroyed. It was so gnarly! Poor Tim. He never stood a chance. Imagine how easy it was for Lilith to destroy this guy and what she is going to do to the Shadowhunters. They don’t know what’s coming for them.
Another interesting turn of events was with Simon and the Seelie Queen. Simon has been doing her biddings for so long in order to save Maia, but things took a pretty intense turn when she basically branded him. And it was so like the Seelie Queen to send Simon off without a word about what it meant. What will happen to Simon, now that he has this mark? Is he under the control of the Seelie Queen forever? When will he tell his friends what she did to him? You may hate the Seelie Queen, but you also have to love her because she is so cold, it’s awesome!
So, let’s go ahead and recap everything that happened in last night’s episode. Lilith’s in town, Luke is dealing with his partner finding out the truth about him, Jace is having mental issues, and Simon now has the Mark of Cain, thanks to the Seelie Queen. Hmm… yep, things are off to a great start. And this is only the first episode! Holy crap, I can’t even begin to think what will happen next week. With all the stuff everyone is dealing with already, I don’t know how they are going to take on Lilith. I can feel an epic showdown heading our way and it makes me giddy with excitement! In the words of Clary, “You want me, come and get me!”.
I look forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings! Things are off to a fantastic start and it can only get better. Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, is all new, next Tuesday. Tune in to Freeform at 8/7c, for another night filled with drama, romance and some kick ass moves!
