As a fan of The Expanse, you’re probably still riding high on the news that Amazon picked it up for a season 4 and possibly more. Social media is still buzzing and I’m still floating like those zero-g scenes.
Now we have time to get even more familiar with this incredible universe, so let’s take some tours. These tours are fun and really help keep us from getting lost. Imagine ending up at an airlock when all you wanted was some red kibble for a midnight snack.
Is there midnight in space?
To help keep your bearings, some cast and crew of The Expanse are hosting 360° set tours. These play as traditional videos, with hosts telling you about the sets. During the videos, we move to various locations that make up each ship’s interior, but with a little extra. While our hosts are explaining the surroundings you can use your mouse, or VR device, to look around freely. I have no VR device, but the experience on a flat monitor is still very cool. Just click and hold anywhere on the videos and use your mouse to look around.
The first tour is of the Ship Formerly Known As Nauvoo: The Behemoth. Belter-salvaged and renamed, this, well, behemoth seems oddly decorated for use as a warship. It’s funny to see large murals of farming and a simple lifestyle on the bridge of what will become a battleship. It’s almost, no, exactly like they modded a church to become a space destroyer. Stroll along with Dominique Tipper, David Strathairn, and Naren Shankar to see how a Mormon generational ship becomes a fighting machine.
The second tour takes us aboard The Thomas Prince with Elizabeth Mitchell and Ty Franck hosting our stroll along the decks. It’s fascinating to watch, but it looks like someone forgot to clean up the corridors. I don’t think that much blood is standard. Wait, this is The Expanse so bloody scenes/sets aren’t unexpected.
The Expanse season 3 airs at 9/8C – season 4 will be shown on Amazon (Time TBD)
