Outlander: Want to Meet the Cast? Try an Event!

By: Erin Conrad June 3, 2018
Convention News, TV News Creation Con, Denver ComicCon, Outlandish Vancouver, Sasnak City, Starz Outlander, Thru The Stones, Wizard World Chicago

One of the great things about loving Outlander is that there are so many opportunities to meet the cast and creators of the show. We love taking pictures with them, getting autographs, hearing what they have to say – it really enhances the obsession we have! I’ve certainly gone to quite a few events, from New York to San Diego. And I have a few more planned for this year! Here are some upcoming events that you might be interested in attending – including some you may not have heard of!

Some notes: Guests are subject to change, due to filming commitments. Some events have said they are still adding guests. This list is only US events, currently, and doesn’t include events where tickets are not available (San Diego ComicCon).

June:

Denver ComicCon, June 15-17 (Denver, CO)
Guests: Graham McTavish, Lotte Verbeek, among other non-Outlander guests
Also: A Dram of Outlander’s Desirre Andrews will lead an Outlander fan panel on Friday at 6 pm, which will include a book giveaway, cosplay contest, and questions and discussion. This will be followed by an After Panel Gathering at the Hyatt Regency at 7:30, with appetizers, drinks, and a screening of an Outlander cast interview by Courtney Williams.

July:

Creation Con Las Vegas. July 13-15 (Las Vegas, NV)

Cost: Gold package $629; other packages are less.
Events include a concert with Stephen Walters; costume and karaoke contests; trivia game; vendors.

Wizard World Chicago, August 23-26 (Rosemont, IL)

Cost: Dual VIP Package $535; Sam VIP or Caitriona VIP package $379. General admission also available. Photos and autographs, other than what is included with VIP packages, can be purchased a la carte. Other non-Outlander guests include James Marsters (Buffy), Matt Ryan (Constantine), cast members from Guardians of the Galaxy, and many more to be announced.
Outlandish Chicago will host a fan get-together Saturday night – tickets are still available.

October:

Outlandish Vancouver, October 19-21 (Surrey, BC, Canada)
Guests: Steven Cree, Cesar Domboy, Lauren Lyle
Cost: Activities are mostly a la carte (some packages available).  A full ticket gets you photo ops (hard copy and digital), autographs, meet and greet events, cast luncheon, a suite party with the cast, a breakfast, panel discussion (with Steven Cree’s movie), and a river boat cruise with the cast on the Fraser River.  A bonus of the weekend is a block of time during which you can attend a free book signing and get Diana Gabaldon’s autograph (separate conference, five minutes away). Gold package cost is $1795 USD (photos [single, C/L duo, trio] one auto each, M&G with all, plus double C/L M&G, cast luncheon, one suite party, breakfast, panel, and river cruise). Discounted from a la carte purchasing. Silver package cost $1445 USD (everything above except trio photo and C/L double M&G). Discounted from a la carte purchasing.

November:

Sasnak City (The Second Coming), November 16-18 (Kansas City, MO)
Guests: TBA
Cost: TBA (tickets not yet available), but will be offered in tiers, with varying entitlements per ticket.
Events: This event will be similar to the first Sasnak City gathering, with a heavy emphasis on cast interaction, meet and greets, photographs and autographs. Some activities may be available for purchase by lower tiers and included in top tier tickets.
Note: I attended this event in April – lots of great cast members, beautiful venue (the National World War I Museum – November event will be at the same place).

Thru The Stones, November 30-December 1 (Davenport, IA)
Guests: Ed Speleers, Ron Moore (unconfirmed)
Cost: $385. Tickets will be available mid-June. Tasting classes are at an extra cost.
Events: This event has cast interaction – all guests do an individual talk, and have an autograph/photograph session. This year’s event has expanded to all day Friday as well as Saturday. Friday’s events will include classes (past classes have included paper cutting, “sword” fighting, mead and whiskey tasting, and much more), and the biggest, baddest team Outlander trivia contest you’ve ever been involved in. Saturday’s events include guest talks, Comedy Outlander Style, entertainment, and a fancy Governor’s Ball (attendees are welcome to come in costume from any era Outlander covers). A large vendor area will be available. Dinner and lunch on both Friday and Saturday are included.
Note: I’ve attended both previous events (held every other year). This is a fantastic fun event, and on top of the great cast/creator opportunities, it gives attendees some unique ways to celebrate our love of the books and show.
Click here for more info (as of today, this year’s info is not on the site). Anyone is welcome to join the Thru The Stones Attendees Facebook group.
