The biggest sci fi movie trailers are always released at SDCC! And this year is no exception. Two more upcoming films released trailers yesterday in panels at the event: Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Shazam.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Godzilla panelists included Millie Bobby Brown, O’Shea Jackson, Vera Farmiga, Thomas Middleditch, and director Michael Dougherty. They revealed that the story for this sequel will center on the dilemma of releasing these monsters or dying. A battle ensues between Godzilla and other monsters Rodan, Mothra, King Ghodorah and others! Kyle Chandler, Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe and Zhang Ziyi also star. Godzilla will be released March 22, 2019.
The first official trailer for Shazam, starring Zachary Levi, was introduced at a blockbuster Hall H presentation yesterday. According to Deadline Hollywood, “The new trailer shows the journey of foster child Billy Batson, the teenage boy able to transform into the titular adult superhero Shazam, portrayed by Levi. Batson derives his heroic attributes by saying the phrase ‘Shazam,’ which is an acronym of the ancient-world gods and historical figures Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury. The trailer definitely has a Greatest American Hero vibe to it as it gave the Hall H audience tons of laughs.”
I have to say, this one looks like fun – almost a cross between a superhero movie and the Tom Hanks classic Big! While monster movies aren’t my thing – ahem, Godzilla – I love Zach Levi, and I’m looking forward to this one!
Shazam opens April 5, 2019.
