Wynonna Earp Season 3 Premier- She’s Back Baby!

A Welcomed Return

After an extremely emotional season finale I know I’ve been excited for Wynonna Earp Season 3 to return! I’ve been so curious to see how all of the characters were going to be after what transpired in Season 2. Luckily everyone is surviving, or at least trying to. A few characters are taking things worse than others, but we’ll get into that in a bit.

Being Wynonna Earp

The show starts out full swing. Wynonna is in her element: a bar, on a mechanical bull, with a beer in her hand. It looks like her old habits came right back without any hesitation. It’s been a few months since the baby was given up, but of course she’s still really upset. Her whole life changed and she had to give up the one thing she truly loved, that’s not easy. She gets kicked out of the bar and is immediately surrounded by revenants. Amazing ass kicking ensues and the Calvary arrives. It looks like that was the plan all along. Waverly and Nicole are being adorable as ever; WayHaught is so great! I’m not sure what’s up with everyone’s mustaches, but the fact that Dolls and Jeremy are rocking the Docstache is kinda of amazing.

We get another WayHaught scene and then boom, Wynonna and Doc beating the heck out of each other. According to Wynonna, it’s the only way he’ll talk to her anymore. The chemistry between all of the couples in the cast is just incredible. The tension is palpable in every interaction, but it is especially so between Doc and Wynonna. After losing something so important to them, I imagine the bond is going to grow even stronger. Though I know that there is a lot stopping them from being together I really like them as a couple and I hope they can eventually make it work. Let’s not forget, Doc is mortal! How will his life continue on and will he age the same or quicker than normal humans? So many questions!

“All the Damn Vampires”

Oh, hell yes Vampires! The one thing Purgatory DIDN’T have to worry about has now arrived. Vampires arriving brings up a lot of questions. What other supernatural entities exist in this world? Are we going to get Werewolves and Ghosts?! They have so many areas open to explore now! Nedley, one of my favorite supporting characters, being the first one to fall under the vampires spell was pretty funny. He’s usually so composed so it was fun to see him get to play “goofy”.

Nicole has to jump into action and responds out to a call. It’s a massacre at the local bar. For some reason Nicole is a lot more shaken by this case. She gets so ill Waverly takes her to the bathroom and things go south for both of them. A vampire puts them both under her spell! We leave Wynonna chasing after one of the remaining vamps, completely unaware of what happened to her sister.

Cut to Doc, drunk at his bar. Remember when I said that one character took Alice being taken away harder than everyone? That’s Doc. He seems like a total mess, especially not wanting to talk to Wynonna. I think it’s sweet that he wanted to take care of the baby so much, but I think in the end he knows that what Wynonna did was the right thing. After sobering up quickly, he and Jeremy go downstairs to find “sexy fog” (haha) and now Jeremy is under the vamp spell! Doc isn’t so easily fooled though, he’s only taken in because they lasso him!

Like Mother Like Daughter?

So, the Earp’s mother did not disappear! She’s been around all along. I am really interested to see what this is going to do for their relationship. Waverly and Wynonna’s that is. This entire time Wynonna’s been hiding their mother from Waves. That’s pretty messed up me thinks. The revelation that their mom knows something about Bulshar brings the main question to the forefront, what the hell happened to her? What did she experience? Obviously it was enough to break her mind and stick her in a facility. Wynonna demands to know what’s been happening to her but the Warden refuses to give her any information. Dolls swoops in all heroic and demands the paperwork. It doesn’t seem to get them anywhere and a downtrodden Dolls walks right into a Vampire trap!

At the homestead Wynonna comes back to find “sexy fog” all over the barn. As she’s hilariously repeating “Please be a Rhianna concert” she comes face to face with a vampire. “Wynonna the Vampire Slayer” has an amazing ring to it! She obviously makes quick work of the vamp and runs inside to warn Waves and Nicole. That took a turn for the worse! Being under the vampires spell Waverly, Nicole, and Jeremy all teamed up against Wynonna and put her in a coffin for delivery! In the mean time, Doc is all tied up with an old friend. When the massacre of the vampires starts happening she runs and he lets her go. I wonder what the consequences of that action will be.

Die Bloodsuckers

Dolls finds Wynonna and frees her from the coffin. From there they devise a plan: kill ’em all! After making a significant amount of wooden spikes it’s time to crash the party. Wham, bam, thank you ma’am and the vampires are all slayed, except for one. They leave one alive as a message for Bulshar; “The Earps are coming for you!” What a cliffhanger to end this episode on! That car accident was nuts! Leave it to Emily Andras to make even a car accident scene hot though, damn! I wonder if that was BoBo who took Waverly away from the car? I can’t wait to find out!

Overall, this was an extremely great season premier. There was humor, sexiness, and great ass kicking. I am so happy that Wynonna Earp is back and I can’t wait to see where this season goes. I’m hoping we’ll see more supernatural beings start to come into the picture too. Plus, having the Earp’s mother back brings a whole new depth to the show!
