I love going to Outlander events, love meeting cast members, love seeing old friends and making new ones… I’ve been to two this year so far, and I have another one planned. And one that sounds like a lot of fun is coming up fast – Outlandish Vancouver.
This year will feature the “next generation” of Outlander stars – Cesar Domboy, Lauren Lyle and John Bell, and special guest Steven Cree! It will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 20 & 21 (there is an opportunity to attend Diana’s signing on Thursday, but this is not affiliated with Outlandish Vancouver). This is not a single-ticket-covers-all event (although there were premium tickets that included the majority of events) – you get to pick and choose what sounds most interesting to you, and purchase tickets for individual activities. Those include:
- Photo ops, autographs and meet and greets with all guests
- Lunch with the cast on Saturday – tickets to sit at luncheon tables with individual cast members are still available for Lauren, Cesar and Steven.
- Party in a hotel suite on Saturday – cast members will attend the party, and you can visit in a more relaxed setting for about an hour, and have your photo taken with them as you leave.
- Sunday will feature a panel following a screening of Steven’s excellent short film A Little Princess, followed by a Q&A.
- And a unique, not-to-be missed Sunday event – cocktails on a paddle boat on the Fraser River with the cast! This is a 60-minute cruise with appetizers.
There will be another opportunity to attend a Diana signing on Saturday (again, not associated with the Outlandish Vancouver event), through the Surrey International Writers Conference (SIWC). If you’re interested in seeing Diana, make sure you pay attention to the schedule and plan your day accordingly!

This event, hosted by Koko Pipkin, has really grown in a short couple of years. From a fairly quiet get-together, it’s grown into a multi-talent, multi-activity event in a gorgeous setting – the Vancouver, BC area. Their website says, “In 2013 the first small gathering of fans of Diana Gabaldon, the author of the wildly popular Outlander and Lord John Grey stories, began making the short trek from the Seattle area to Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, to meet Diana and attend a signing hosted by the Surrey International Writer’s Conference (SIWC). This gathering of fans has grown leaps and bounds and has now hosted Outlander cast and consultants for events over the weekend, still leaving time to see Diana and to meet fellow Outlander fans.
“In 2016, Outlandish Vancouver hosted Adhamh O Broin to meet with fans and to teach a Gaelic seminar. In 2017, Outlandish Vancouver brought in David Berry, who plays the beloved character of Lord John Grey, and again hosted Adhamh O Broin…During the weekend, there is a block of time set aside to attend the SIWC Author Signing, where you are able to meet many different authors as well as Diana Gabaldon.”
