Netflix’s “Locke and Key” Casts Connor Jessup & Emilia Jones as Locke Siblings

After Hulu passed on the comic adaptation of Locke and Key, fans were concerned they would never see it happen. Netflix picked it up and has just recast its two main leads for Tyler and Kinsey Locke. The series is Joe Hill’s comic, from Hill, Carlton Cuse and IDW Entertainment. Connor Jessup (Falling Skies, American Crime) was cast to play Tyler Locke. British actress Emilia Jones (Utopia) was cast to play the sister Kinsey Locke.

Both join the youngest cast member Jackson Robert Scott (IT). Netflix gave the series a 10-episode order back in July, which had originally been piloted and developed for Hulu. Netflix did not pick up the existing pilot that was shot, but instead decided to redevelop it. Scott was the only Locke sibling who they did not recast.

Locke & Key is a horror/fantasy series that revolves around siblings Kinsey, Tyler and Bode. After the gruesome murder of their father, they move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.

Emilia Jones is known for her role as Alice Ward on Utopia and appearing in episodes of Doctor Who and Wolf Hall. Jessup is best known on our site as Ben Mason from TNT’s alien invasion series Falling Skies and more recently appearing on ABC’s American Crime. Jessup has spent a lot of time honing his skills behind the camera as well as in front of it. Jessup has directed and starred in several independent projects, Lira’s Forest and Closet Monster, which are worth checking out.

If you are a fan of the comics, what do you think of the casting choices? The story sounds interesting and with Netflix at the helm, we know they won’t hold back on the material.
