It is time for your weekly Sci-Fi News Roundup!

TV Cancellations

And just like that, another Netflix Marvel series has just received the axe. Marvel’s “Daredevil” will not be seeing a fourth season. This comes on the tail of “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist” also being canceled. Although the series has been cancelled, Netflix mentioned that, “…the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel”. Sounds like this isn’t the end for our intriguing Daredevil and I anxiously await seeing where he ends up in the future. For more details, head on over to Deadline Hollywood.

It seems that no series is safe anymore as CBS has canceled the summer drama series “Salvation” after only it’s second season. “Salvation” followed Liam Cole, an MIT grad student, and Darius Tanz, a tech superstar billionaire as they joined forces for a good cause. The two discover that an asteroid is only months away from colliding with the Earth. With the help of Grace Barrow and Secretary of Defense Harris Edwards, they work to find a way to save the world, no matter the cost. The cancellation of this series was devastating to its followers, with a nice uproar on social media still raging. For more details, head over to Deadline Hollywood.

The drama series, “Preacher,” has officially been renewed for a fourth season on the AMC Network. “Preacher” is brought to you by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg. The series is based on the popular cult comic book, which follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper). He is accompanied by his ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, played with joyful abandon by Joseph Gilgum. The three are on a journey to find God and end up being pushed into a twisted battle that encompasses Heaven, Hell and everything in-between. No doubt fans are excited to continue the story with their three favorite travelers. Head over to Deadline Hollywood for more details.

With some beloved shows getting cut, it’s nice knowing that Netflix is throwing some new series at us. A 10-episode order has been made for “Cowboy Bebop,” a live-action adaptation of the cult Japanese animated series. The series follows a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters who are running from their past while hunting down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. Movies

A remake of CJ Entertainment’s horror-thriller film “Hide And Seek,” is underway. The film will be directed by Joel David Moore. The production has cast Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jacinda Barrett, Joe Pantoliano, and Mustafa Shakir as the leads in this thrilling remake. “Hide And Seek” follows a man who is searching for his long-lost brother when he stumbles upon a secret world of squatters terrorizing the homes of unsuspecting tenants. For more about this horror-thriller film, check out Deadline Hollywood.

James Cameron’s new movie, “Alita: Battle Angel,” will hit theaters on Valentine’s Day. A perfect fit considering that this is a huge love affair between Cameron and the source material, the cyberpunk saga which was created by Yukita Kishiro in the 1990s.  With Robert Rodriguez and Jon Landau by his side, filming began in 2016. Weta was also brought on to help with special-effects and the challenge of creating a photo-realistic anime along with the story’s futuristic setting. Enjoy the recent trailer and make sure to head over to Deadline Hollywood for more details.

Marvel Studios is hard at work to get “Shang-Chi” to be the first superhero movie franchise that has an Asian protagonist. Dave Callaham has signed on to write the screenplay, but Marvel is still looking at multiple Asian and Asian-American individuals to direct the film. Marvel’s goal for this film is to have a new hero who blends Asian and Asian-American themes that is created by Asian and Asian-American filmmakers. This is similar to what was done with “Black Panther.” For more details about Marvel’s new adventure, head over to Deadline Hollywood.
