“The high-flying madness in Hellsalem’s Lot continues!

Having saved the city from the King of Despair, Leonardo Watch is now a full-fledged member of the crime-fighting organization known as Libra. But things won’t be easy. The chaos on the streets is never-ending, and every talented misfit at Libra has a part to play. No matter what new monster plagues this metropolis of mayhem, they’ll go to the sky and beyond to maintain peace.”

Review

The fun and crazy antics continue as Leonardo fights to protect his sister in Hellsalem’s Lot. The new season of Blood Blockade Battlefront brought with it more backstory on how Leo got the all seeing eyes of the gods and just what some monsters will do to get ahold of them. Leo is now a full fledged member of Libra after having saved the city.

Besides getting backstory on Leo, we spent some time in the first half of the season getting to know each character intimately through a series of backstory episodes focused around a particular character. One of my favorite ones was episode 6, titled Get The Lock Out. In this episode Blood Blockade Battlefront gives a shoutout and reference to Ghostbusters. in the form of a character dressed just like one of the ghostbusters, they also put him in the end credits proton pack and all!

All throughout the season we also got to continue to core story plot with Leo and his sister. This is one of those series that I could watch over and over for 10 seasons. Fun micro stories that don’t have to be apart of the main plot but are way better than filler. Plus you still get main plot story progression that is satisfying. And of course the dynamic among the characters is as funny and interesting as ever.

Blood Blockade Battlefront Season 2 consists of 12 episodes, like season one. Stay through the credits because the closing theme is very catchy (listen on repeat). For that matter, so is the opening theme! Check both of them out below. And visit FunimationNow for the dub of season 2 or purchase it on blu-ray and dvd over at the Funimation shop.
