Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Serves Up A Fifth Season

By: Robert Prentice December 22, 2019
Anime News Crunchyroll, Food Wars

The fourth season of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma is finishing up its TV run, so what better time for an announcement. On stage at Jump Festa 2020, it was announced that a fifth season of the anime would be served up. The release date is April 2020. Along with that announcement came a new key visual for the fifth season. Soma stands with the rest of the group under a cherry blossom tree in spring.

The title for the fifth season is Food Wars! The Fifth Plate. I wish they could start being more creative with the season titles. The voice cast and staff from the fourth season will be returning. The manga wrapped up its final volume with 36. Many fans of the manga call the final arc a ‘complete mess’. Many wanted the anime to end just before that arc with season four.

Whether you are an anime only fan or you know what’s coming in the final arc, we all get more Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma in April. And for that I am personally excited to see more. Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma is currently streaming on Crunchyroll. Go now and get yourself caught up. So what has been your favorite arc so far? Tell us in the comments below or tweet at us over at ThreeIfBySpace.

About Food Wars!

Shokugeki no Soma centers on Yukihira Soma, a middle school student who is determined to surpass his father’s culinary skills. One day, his father decides to close down their family restaurant and hone his skills in Europe. Before leaving he enrolls Soma in an elite culinary school that is extremely difficult to enter with a graduation rate of only 10 percent. Will Soma be able to improve his skills, or will the kitchen prove to be too hot?
